Slap chop and similar are great for people without fine motor control, so really it would be cool if you looked for other options, instead of writing it off with just a knife.
Definitely not this one in particular, but I remember a video from Angel Giuffria where she goes a little bit into food prep as an amputee and these gadgets do help, when they're not crap
I must admit my mom had a similar one to that slap chop that came from the '70s and everything was chopped beautifully. Nothing ever stuck to the blade. Everything was great. I kind of miss it, but I still love my chef blade!
Thinking about the Slap Chop reminds me of the old days, I couldn’t tell you what shows I was watching but some of those commercials I’ll never forget. Slap Chop and Sham-Wow are some of the best.
So true, but my wife is using an electrical chopper , does work but not perfectly. And as you stated a good shape knife and some elbow grease is best. 😅😊
I don’t use many specialized kitchen tools…BUT..I do use those goofy onion goggles. My eyes are super sensitive to onions. I would actually be in pain whenever I had to cut, dice onions. I tried all the different tricks people recommended. Those didn’t work for me or were inconvenient. Got those onion goggles, and now I have no issues dealing with onions. No planning required. Just pop those babies on and dice away with my chef knife. No pain, no tears. I look ridiculous, you bet. But worth it.
I think a lot of folks miss that a main target for these devices is also differently-abled folks, who may not have the dexterity for a good-old chef’s knife. It would be better to take it from different demographic’s perspective, when you’re assessing usability.
Sorry but I have to say, that cutting and dicing onions is one of the most overrated things on this earth. If I can’t find a decent chopper, I’m buying frozen!! 😂

Did you try chopping nuts with it? You’re gonna love my nuts!
Those thinks hurt my hands.
That one's crap and by the way you're not slapping it. For persons like myself with nerve damaged hands functional devices of these types are useful
We bought the Pampered Chef version about 20 years ago and pretty much only use it for chopping nuts.
In the early 70's, it was the Chop-o-Matic by Popiel. Nothing has changed except the name.

A slap chop breaks up weed pretty good before you roll up a fattie if you're into that.
I have a Zyllss versions and love it for nuts or garlic. It is a limited use tool though. I use a knife for onions.
❤I so agree. So what's the best chefs knife. I current am in love with Made In 6"".
I prefer knives to this dangerous tool.

I don't have the slap chopper but I do love my Vidalia Chop wizard. I don't use it all the time but it definitely serves a purpose.
A small food processor works well for dicing/chopping.
I have the Oxo version. You do have to slap it, but it returns great results. You didn’t put enough effort into your “slap”
My grandmother had one she actually got it from the thrift store for like $3 it was bad 😭 but that infomercial was iconic as hell
I have a Kitchen Aid slap chop thing. I do like it if I want to finely chop things.
More stuff to clean. You have to cut the veggies just so you can fit them in. Now you got a dirty knife and dirty slap chop
I wonder if there are still people buying those crappy items
True!!!!

Only thing I found this was good for was rough chopping a large amount of nuts
Hmmm, I use mine all the time for chopping nuts, but that’s all I use it for.
I bet she gives THE WORST hj's
