4 Reasons You Must Have Post Workout Drink After Training

1. Catabolism -Body is in catabolism and need carbs so that you are not burning the muscle protein that you just spent time building

2. Glycogen — Body needs to restore the glycogen stores burnt during your training or workout session. Body uses glycogen as energy and when that is gone, it turns to fat as it’s source of energy and starts burn FAT, which is Good. If you do not restore your glycogen (through simple carbs) then your body will immediately stop burning fat, hold on to it and start to burn your muscles instead

3. Protein –Your body and muscles need to be fed protein for recovery and muscle repair

4. Insulin — You need to spike Insulin (through simple carbs) to help transfer the protein to the muscles quickly and efficiently

  1. Happy I stumbled upon this clip. Love Youtube for this sort of stuff. My nephew had been bullied. He explained he was going to get bigger muscle mass. I laughed at him because I didn't believe him…. Right up until out of the blue he added 40 pounds of pure muscle. He used the Muscle Building Bible – Google it. He does not get bullied these days. 🙂

I personally registered a few days ago. Plus the guys emails are interesting…

  3. Hey Emily…lose the chocolate until you get to where you want to go, especially every night. That is waaaaaaay too much! it's killing you – LOL
You have to have clean, healthy nutrition in order to lean up. you cannot out train a bad diet, no matter how many funk workouts you do…head over to fenvsfunk program for women in the info section and use that nutrition plan, laid out for you

  4. Hey Samuel, yes you can have a post workout meal instead for sure…make sure you eat some starchy carbs though if you have just finished a Metabolic, HIIT or Combat Training….Brown rice, quinoa, sweet potato for example as well as protein (chicken breast or fish) and lot's of veggies..throw in some healthy fats too. If you want a full meal plan (Done for you) or Do it yourself – pick and choose go to funkflexmmaworkouts website for a complete program with workouts, nutrition and scheduling

  5. Looks yummy! thanks for the info too I didn't know that about the importance of insulin for muscle building. Hey Funk, do you eat dark chocolate, and if so how often?, bc I eat some almost every night (tho min 60-70% cacao) and I've been doing workouts like yours for more than a year, and have seen great muscle/strength gains, but can not seem to lean up: do you think the chocolate/(really the sugar in it) makes the difference?

  6. Yes you are correct as well. The only time you really want that insulin spike is directly after you workout at a high intensity…body needs to get that protein into the muscles quick and glycogen replenished…anytime else and you are correct, it a NO NO!
