Today I’m at Sonic trying the New BBQ Chip Seasoned Tots. They are Sonic’s classic tots covered in a sweet and savory BBQ chip flavored seasoning.

I had them today and they taste like barbeque chips I was hoping for a better taste lol
They taste like Lay's BBQ chips, it's a glaze of some sort.
They look noms. And I love BBQ chips
Maybe they're dredged in BBQ potato chips…hence the name and texture
You must have a good sonic or tip them well. I got these the other day but most of the tots tasted normal and greasy only a few got the seasoning on them. I need to find a way to make them at home.
I would like to try those but the nearest sonic is 70 miles away & i’am driving 70 miles just to try some tots!
I'm guessing they included "CHIP" so you do expect them to taste like BBQ in the meat sense, otherwise, they would just put any kind of bbq sauce intended for meat. BBQ chips taste very distinct from say actual bbq flavor from ribs, brisket, or any "grilled" meats. If they didn't include "CHIP", they would have used any old bbq sauce on them.
Those bbq tots here in South Texas are $2.79 for medium and $3.29 for large.
They are good and they do taste like a chip.
by the sound of the crispness of them, it seems they may have shaken them in actuall bar-b-que potato chips and then fried them.
or they may have fried them and them rolled them in bar-b-que chips!!!….they might taste like utz rippled bar-b-que chips.

You were luckier than me. More than half my toys were pulverized into potato bits. I suspect the seasoning is added with the freshly cooked tots in the serving container and then it is supposed to be “gently” shaken to coat them. Mine were shaken so hard the tots broke apart.

The Fish Sandwich is a regular menu item. I have ordered it twice & it's not bad. No complaints ! I may try the Tots it's been a long time since I've had them .

Was wondering about them. May have to try tomorrow night with half price burger and drink via the app. BTW do you have a Freddy's Frozen custard there? They have a new fish sandwich that looks good.

Maybe it’s a bbq oil such as a garlic oil or truffle oil. One can never have enough fish

I had these earlier today. I found the name to be interesting as well, but these do taste like barbecue chips rather than barbecue sauce, in my opinion.
Those look good, they put mine in a hotdog tray and the sauce leaked all over the rest of my food. 😂

Back to hear you say "tots"! LOL Maybe the chip version of BBQ is a different type of seasoning, I guess? Maybe they're trying to act as if they are unique. Gosh the sodium on that is basically to send you straight to the nearest urgent care. My lord!
Love me a good tater tot! For me, even a nice crispy plain tot would score high. I like to dip them in apple sauce.
