Maangchi, these episodes of your 2015 trip to Korea make me cry tears of nostalgia, happiness, and joy! It is wonderful to see you interact with your childhood memories. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing these very special moments with all of us. π
This is so wholesome! Had no idea you live in NYC, maybe someday Iβll bump into you, I shop in a lot of Asian stores hereπ

Is the acorn jelly made from actual acorns, from oak trees? I know that here in Europe people used to make coarse flour from acorns a long time ago, but it had to be soaked in the river for several days to remove the bitter taste. I'm curious how Korean acorn jelly is made.
Oh Maangchi β€ this was such a heartwarming video. It was really calming to watch you cook at this kitchen.
It is wonderful to see you honor your father by sharing a meal with his friends. It must have been a flood of good memories for you and a joy seeing all their happy faces. I hope you have a wonderful visit in your first home. β€
While youβre there, please eat kimchi everywhere you go, I love it so much, wish I was there to try all the kimchi from all the different Moms and Chefs.
So sweet of you to cook for them β€
That's so sweet of you to host your father's friends and cook such a delicious meal for them! You respect your elders and I respect that! Your food looks so delicious, I wish I could try some! Thank you for another nice video! π«Άπ»π¨π¦
Such a nice vlog taken with so much love & sincerity felt across the folks~
Perilla leaves are so sexy to me. I fill them with ground shrimp and vegetables, fold them gently in half, dip them in tempura batter, and fry them. So good. That daikon soup looks so yummy, too. I didn't know you can make your own soy sauce. I learn something new all the time.
0h my goodness. !!

Hello Emily!
I have questions:
1. When the mom says her son is βtan from working in the fields but is naturally handsomeβ, is that because tan is not considered attractive in Korea?
2. What do perilla leaves taste like?
3. Same question for acorn jelly. Is it bitter like acorns?
thanks for sharing, maangchi!
