  1. Thank you for sharing, Kimmy! I second your tip about starting on Sundays- I started baking bread by preparing the dough before church and then baking it after Sunday lunch, and have grown my confidence and skill from there! It was the perfect time to start, and now I can find time almost anytime! God bless you and yours!

  2. Great advice for everyone to help save on the grocery budget.I have made all of our yeast bread products from sandwich bread, cinnamon raisin Italian, French, burger buns, hot dog buns, English muffins, donuts, pretzels, dinner rolls, cinnamon rolls, Caramel pecan rolls, etc for over 48 years. I buy yeast by the 5 lb bags and all purpose flour 100 lb bags, wheat berries, hard red, hard white, soft white, 50lb bags at my local Amish bulk food store. I do a once a month yeast breads day where I make all of it to last for 1-2 months, I make let rise once shape then freeze immediately. I also make brown and serve rolls. I do the same with quickbreads, biscuits. I also don't buy box mixes for cakes, pancakes, cookies, brownies, muffins I make shelf stable mixes. It has saved my family 1000's of dollars per year. Tip freeze yeast, use lecithin to extend the life of your fresh bread also gives extra vitamins without preservatives.

  3. I love this video. Thank you for sharing. I do have a question though, do you have any issue going from store bought flour to fresh milled flour? I’ve been seeing other YT content that says it’s not 1 cup for 1 cup, it requires more moisture, and more rise time. I’m really curious and do you store it the same way?

  4. I LOVE the idea, nutritional benefits and flavor of sourdough; however, I find getting the starter to do what it's supposed to do is rather challenging, I have so far not been super successful. Therefore, I too, am a yeast bread girl.

  5. I’ve come to realize it’s not always you but sometimes the products you use. I’ve tried bread making over the years with very limited success with the fleischmann packs. Just because it was cheap at Sam’s my wife bought the Bellarise yeast and that by itself was a game changer. Much more consistently good bread most of the time. Also ditch the volume measurements and buy a 10 dollar scale and weigh everything. Huge difference in the quality of the bread. A couple great bread YouTubers are John Kirkwood and the Chainbaker. Both are great for tips and tricks

  6. I like both sour dough and yeast breads. However, I usually do yeast because of the time commitment for sourdough is just too great. Also, even though I love the flavor of sourdough the thick, tough crust is just too much!

  7. These videos crack me up so easy use a 500.00 mixer 500.00 grain mill and make 4+ loaves of bread. Keep it simple use your hands or a stand mixer 3 cups flour a couple tbsp yeast tsp salt 1 1/2 cup 110' water mix well sit until double in size. If you need to save time put a pot of hot water in the oven to warm and steam loaf to rise quickly Then transfer in any pan or Dutch oven bake proof 350 20 minutes or until 190' thermometer

  8. I learned to bake bread at home last year. I initially thought I’d just buy a bread maker and flour from the store but the Lord Jesus has different plans. I stumbled upon a channel on YouTube that taught from a biblical perspective about why we should buy grains and mill our own flour. I haven’t looked back ever since. I don’t buy flour from the store anymore and learning to make more and more wheat products here at home from scratch. We love it and so many health benefits. We don’t buy bread or buns or cookies or even cake from the store. Made cinnamon rolls for the first time for one of my kids birthday breakfast and again for Christmas. They came out ok looking but tasted great! It’s all about taking your time and learning. Took me about 3 months to finally perfect my sandwich bread but I learned each time and gained confidence along the way. It’s so fun and just determine that it’s a goal and important and be ok with failures because it’s all about the process and it’s never truly a failure if you learn something from it.

  9. My mom made crust bread by using canned Pet Milk and homemade butter, applied with a paper towel for each item. She would rub the top of the loaf…. Sadly that’s all I can remember!! And we all know crusted bread is awesome!!!
