Stop Wasting Money on Chicken

For the 9 Recipes I featured in this video, a complete grocery list, AND a recipe for homemade stock, just click this link, and I’ll email it to you for FREE along with my fortnightly newsletter containing more recipes, exclusive behind the scenes, and early sale promotions for some of the products on my page. If you don’t want the newsletter, no worries. Just download the PDF and unsubscribe forever. The recipes are yours to keep.

I really hope that this video gives you the confidence and motivation to start breaking down whole chickens. Buying a whole chicken is 56% cheaper than buying boneless skinless chicken, and depending on the store, you could be spending more on two boneless skinless breasts than you would on an ENTIRE chicken.

So even if you just break down a chicken half of the time, the average person will save hundreds of dollars a year. What will you spend the extra money on?

If you want access to ALL my past recipes, a few extra explainer vids, and a direct message channel to ask me your cooking questions, check out my website

And if you want to break down chicken like a master, check out this @Yakitoriguy video.

And last but not least… If you came to the description for the chicken spreadsheet, or because you didn’t believe my graphs, here is a link to the spreadsheet I made.

  1. Hey! Welcome to my comment section! If this video inspires you to break down your first ever chicken, I would LOVE to hear about that as a reply to this comment. I am going to make a short video on JUST the breakdown process in a week or so, and it really helps to know which details from this video were clear and helpful, and which details I may need to explain MORE. My goal is to convince as many people as possible to go out and confidently try for themselves. Any feedback really helps, so if you make the jump from this video and have chicken butchery feedback you want to share, please let me know so I can share the knowledge with even more people. Thanks!

  2. I remember trying to eat one of those tiny hen chickens or whatever their called, basically rotisserie chicken but tiny. I could NOT get the meat off the bone even when it was cooked, I didn't understand how to eat it properly and the bones and tendons grossed me out. Today I face my fear to save money

  3. Second time breaking down a chicken by myself with this video, went smoother than the first time, except for mangling one of the tenders and having a hard time finding the gaps in the joints in the wings sometimes. Next time I'll try without this video. Here's to cheap chicken at home!

  4. I knew buying prepacked was more expensive but I had no idea exactly how much more until watching this. A video on flash freezing would be very helpful. I still tend to buy bags of frozen chicken breasts more than butchering my own chickens because if I were to buy and break down several birds, I would need to freeze them after to keep the extra from going bad before I use it. The home cooks dilemma here is that if you just throw them into a gallon ziplock and freeze them they'll get frozen together making it nearly impossible to just get one or two out for a quick meal. The storebought breasts are individually flash frozen to prevent this before being bagged. So if there's a way I could do that at home, that would be awesome

  5. I stumbled across this video for the first time around 3 months ago. Since then I've been buying whole chickens and find that I only have to get one every two weeks or so. Im absolutely loving it. It takes practice but I'm able to break one down in about 10 minutes consistently now. But the big variety of meat you get not to mention the chance to make real stock has dramatically improved the variety of food I eat while also decreasing how much I spend on that food.

I was already on a roll of learning to cook, but buying whole animals (likely started doing this because of this video) has genuinely changed my life. Thank you!

  6. Just earned a big fag subscription from me. This is such a huge saving! Would I save even more by buying cooked rotisserie? Also would I still be able to make the broth and butter if it's already cooked?
