America’s Test Kitchen is a real 2,500 square foot test kitchen located just outside of Boston that is home to more than three dozen full-time cooks and product testers. Our mission is simple: to develop the absolute best recipes for all of your favorite foods. To do this, we test each recipe 30, 40, sometimes as many as 70 times, until we arrive at the combination of ingredients, technique, temperature, cooking time, and equipment that yields the best, most-foolproof recipe.

Each week, the cast of America’s Test Kitchen brings the recipes, testings, and tastings from Cook’s Illustrated magazine to life on our public television series. With more than 2 million viewers per episode, we are the most-watched cooking show on public television.

More than 1.3 million home cooks rely on Cook’s Illustrated and Cook’s Country magazines to provide trusted recipes that work, honest ratings of equipment and supermarket ingredients, and kitchen tips.

  1. My pop used to have a "lazy Susan" using those. The lids were screwed into a round piece of plywood which was bolted to the underneath of a shelf using washers and double nuts on ea. side of the plywood to make a makeshift "bearing". They ARE tough, but I managed to break one every now and then. Of course, I could break a ball peen hammer when I was a kid, too. -grin-

  2. Excellent idea!

I have been using old peanut butter jars (that have been emptied and cleaned) to do the same thing since college.

BTW: Old PB and Mayo jars are very tough, useful for storing / organizing nails, screws & other hardware; Also useful for mixing paint and wood finishes.

I use them to mix salad dressings and dessert toppings.

So, you don't need to buy Mason jars if you don't already have them.

  3. That's great if you want to make coffee from the mid 1980's. You will get a better result by using a coffee plunger. Once you heat the milk add to plunger and pump the handle up and down around 8-10 times. You will have micro foam, adding a great texture to your latte.
