America’s Test Kitchen is a real 2,500 square foot test kitchen located just outside of Boston that is home to more than three dozen full-time cooks and product testers. Our mission is simple: to develop the absolute best recipes for all of your favorite foods. To do this, we test each recipe 30, 40, sometimes as many as 70 times, until we arrive at the combination of ingredients, technique, temperature, cooking time, and equipment that yields the best, most-foolproof recipe.

Each week, the cast of America’s Test Kitchen brings the recipes, testings, and tastings from Cook’s Illustrated magazine to life on our public television series. With more than 2 million viewers per episode, we are the most-watched cooking show on public television.

More than 1.3 million home cooks rely on Cook’s Illustrated and Cook’s Country magazines to provide trusted recipes that work, honest ratings of equipment and supermarket ingredients, and kitchen tips.

  1. I've tried it, but it does not work. It's still grainy no matter how long you process it. I tried it for buttercream frosting and it was terrible. I have a cupboard in my kitchen that holds all of my baking needs. Most things are in clear canning jars to keep them fresh. Just keep confectioner's sugar on hand, along with well stocked baking needs.

  2. It seems every time I want some crucial kitchen advice ATK comes up short. All I wanted to know is how likely will this scratch up the inside of my jugs – like theirs is at 0.30?

  3. I have the same Domino powder sugar as her but for some odd reason it taste lime perfume! Does anyone ever had that problem? So i came here to diy my own and see if there is a difference in taste or maybe it is juste..

  4. I cannot get past the fact that the ad I had to watch before this video played was for a conspiracy theory publication. Does ATK choose the advertiser or YouTube? Either way, completely and utterly off putting and inappropriate. Even if it had been a legitimate but politically skewed ad, that would hardly be appropriate before a cooking video.

  5. Thank you so much. Went short on icing sugar at last minute on Christmas Day! After making ATK’s delicious Holiday Cookies! You saved my day. Always my most trusted source. ✨✨✨✨✨

  6. No idea why this didn't work for me. I have a Ninja blender. I blended 1 cup granulated + 1 t. corn starch…checked the texture, blended some more, but it still felt gritty and did not improve in texture. My blender is so powerful that after minutes of having it on, I can smell the motor heating up. I used the sugar anyway in a basic buttercreme frosting recipe and the end result was pure grit. What a waste! I went out to the store and bought some confectioner's sugar.

  7. They figured out how to make powdered sugar?  Unless they've been living in a cave their whole lives I don't think it was a big secret.  A bunch of cooks in uniform could have educated us on how to make powdered sugar, but to take credit for figuring it out?
