You guys are life savers 🙏
I started using the plastic bags that the wraps are sold-in and each bag gives me 2 x separating squares for the freezer. It works well for me cos I mostly just want to defrost one wrap at a time; I really like a wrap in the morning with egg, fresh spinach and mushrooms in it.
Great video. I have parchment paper for burgers. Good answer.. Thanks.
Love the way she says THEY came up with the solution! Been doing that for years Mrs!
I'm going to try this with corn tortillas. But no way am I separating each one. I'll do every 4, I think. That's about as many as I would need in a day or two.
Thanx sweetie
thanks! what i did was that i didnt cut the paper so it kinda just zigzags thru the tortillas. so that i can use the paper later for baking
All you have to do is separate them after cooling them for a few hours in the dredge put them on a freezer bag and good to go same for corn or flour!
Terrific money saving tip!
Why not just freeze them in a cooking tray individually, and then placing them in a zip bag after they are frozen for storage? Isn't that a bit of a waste of money, paper, and time?
seems like your tortillas did not freeze witht he wax paper in between. It was still flexible when you took it out and took the tortilla. Nice trick though, but it was so obvious!
What if I were to toss the whole pack in the freezer then pull out the day before and defrost in the frig – will that work?
What about corn tortillas they break when you try to use them
Great idea ,thankyou
Separating them is the problem! I'll buy a pack and they are always stuck together and tear unmercilessly! What's a tip for making them unstuck?
In this case, its easier and quickier to make fresh tortilla in 20 minutes, its much easier to store raw flour and lard
what about putting flour in between, does it work
Do the savings from buying them in bulk offset the cost of wax paper and freezer bags?
Living in Argentina, small town. Tortillas not common here. Friend brought me some when visited.
I used this video to know how to better freeze them.
Thank you.
Or you just freeze them in smaller quantities and defrost the whole pack in one go. Saves wasting baking paper and you can reuse the ziplock bags
I freeze in lots of 6
Thank you so much <3
i love this channel lol
Why do the frozen tortillas get hard while you take them out the stove.?
Thank you.
how to fry frozen corn tortillas. do you thaw first?
too late. . .
I just toss the whole thing into the freezer in it's original plastic bag, the tortilla don't stick together at all.
what if i use plastic sheets instead?
TY for the tip. I, also read other people's tip. Using the small plastic bags where fruit or vegetable has been, they may not be very clean. The fruit has been in it and the fruit could have been touched by other people plus chemicals. I use my small bags for used cat litter.
Ok, you buy in bulk to save money, but because you buy in bulk you have more than you can use before they go bad, so you prevent them from going bad by taking time to cut paper and leafing them in between the tortias. So, are you saving money if you have to put in the time to cut and leaf not to mention the cost of freezing in the limited space of the freezer. Buy weekly folks, a simple life is better than that complicated one.
you can always use plastic shopping bags from the grocery store instead of Parchment Paper, they are free and normally end up on the trash after unpacking the groceries. Specially the ones you get for the fruits and veggies.
Lucky enough to have Mexican friend that gave a bag of yellow corn masa. I just make enough to eat and now can never go back to store bought tortillas.
I'd rather just dust the bag with corn starch, or take the bag out of the freezer after an hour and give it a tap.
Ingenious….!
Lol
It's not all that expensive or time consuming, and if you're out an entire package of tortillas, it's worth the cost. Maybe a buck or two, but that's still savings.
But are you really saving anything if you have to spend extra time separating and buying sheets of paper??
GENIUS.
