Teriyaki chicken – most classic Japanese dish?
Teriyaki chicken is one of the most symbolic Japanese dishes to me. When someone says “Japanese food” my brain automatically thinks of Teriyaki chicken or sushi. And for good reason! It’s such an easy and comforting dish that you can make any day of the week within 30 minutes!

They donβt really have terriyaki chicken in Japan tho so its more of a Japanese-american cuisine so maybe Sushi would be more symbolic?

So I never cooked before on my own. This will be my first dish. Trying it tonight.
It is so weird to me when people dont mix the ingredients in a separate bowl first and then cover the meat vs just throwing them all onto the meat and then swirling everything around π i know, it saves cleaning a dish, but Id be afraid it wasnt mixed good enough
So you just pick up the entire thigh and eat it in one bite?
Who do you think you are? π₯Ήππβ¦ EXCELLENT JOB YOUNG MAN! ππ»π«Άπ»ππ»ππ»π₯°πͺπΌ..
Honestly, for Americans, it depends on when you were born. Teriyaki for boomers, sushi for millennials, ramen for zoomers.

Nice
Not gonna lie I thought Ramen would be first or second
I think for westerners, sushi will always be that #1 iconic Japanese dish. However, I think teriyaki is a close second.
Ramen seems to mentioned a lot for Japanese food
