They don’t really have terriyaki chicken in Japan tho so its more of a Japanese-american cuisine so maybe Sushi would be more symbolic?

So I never cooked before on my own. This will be my first dish. Trying it tonight.
It is so weird to me when people dont mix the ingredients in a separate bowl first and then cover the meat vs just throwing them all onto the meat and then swirling everything around 😅 i know, it saves cleaning a dish, but Id be afraid it wasnt mixed good enough

I think for westerners, sushi will always be that #1 iconic Japanese dish. However, I think teriyaki is a close second.
