🐽 There’s just something about pulled pork that never lets you down. Tender, smoky, 💨 juicy 💦 … it’s the kind of BBQ that makes people wander into your backyard like they’ve got built-in GPS. And when you start with high-quality pork like @missouriporkassociation4290 ? Yeah… you’re already ahead of the game. 🎯
This batch turned out so good it practically built its own sandwich at the end of the video. I just stood back and watched greatness unfold.
If you want to make it at home, here’s the simple way I do it:
⸻
🔥 Pulled Pork Recipe (Captain Ron Style) 😘
Ingredients:
• 1 pork shoulder (Boston butt)
• Your favorite BBQ rub aka @Heygrillhey
• Mustard or binder of choice (optional)
• Smoking wood of your choice
• BBQ sauce (for finishing)
• Buns or your favorite serving style
Instructions:
1. Trim the pork shoulder lightly, removing any loose or excessive fat.
2. Score the fat cap in a crosshatch pattern — this helps the seasoning really get down into the meat and adds even more flavor.
3. Add a thin layer of mustard or binder if you like, then season generously with your BBQ rub, making sure to get that rub into all the grooves you just scored.
4. Place the pork shoulder on your smoker at 250–275°F, using your favorite smoking wood.
5. Smoke until you hit the stall (around 160–170°F), then wrap in foil or butcher paper.
6. Continue cooking until the internal temp hits 200–205°F and the probe slides in like warm butter.
7. Let it rest, shred it up, sauce lightly, and pile it high on a bun… or eat it straight off the board like a perfectly well-behaved BBQ professional.
Either way, it always hits right!
