Char siu, aka Chinese bbq roasted pork, sometimes spelled as char siew or char suit, is the kind of dish that brings happiness and satisfaction, especially the moment when you take it out of the oven. The sizzling meat is bursting with deliciousness, filling your home with the mouthwatering aroma of roasted meat and sweet caramelized honey.

You will be shocked how easy it is to make char siu at home. Just marinate the meat overnight and roast it in the oven the next day. Since I first tackled this recipe five years ago, I have picked up a lot of insider tips and tricks, so this upgraded recipe guarantees restaurant-quality results.

  1. You would've been proud of me tonight! I actually made my own recipe using so much I have learned from you and actually a few other people on YouTube. I made tofu with stirfry veggies and a curried pumpkin (butternut squash from my compost bin) and lentils. Served with rice and a peach chutney I made back in August 😘😋 I really thank you the most for demystifying Chinese cuisine thanks to your detailed instructions Thanks a million!

  2. I just tried the recipe. I must say I tried many recipes your old one as well as many others from well known chefs. They had all one thing together they where all close to the real thing and almost similar to proper Hong Kong style char siu, but this recipe is 💯 % AUTHENTIC! BEST ONE EVER!!!❤
