I avoided electric can openers for decades 'cause I hated that filthy little cutter on them. I bought the H-B that you liked a couple of years ago. I don't open many cans but it replaced a manual Kuhn Rikon safety opener and I love mine also.
I had trouble opening up cans with a manual can opener because of arthritis. I don't know how many brands of manual openers I bought in the previous 10 years. My husband finally bought me the ATK winner, the Hamilton Beach electric can opener about 3 years ago. I love that it cuts the lid from the side which is added safety and I recommend it. I still gloat over, it to myself, because I struggled for so long. The only problem I could see was if the electricity ever went out, I would have a problem. So I found a manual can open that also cuts from the side, as a backup. It has a large turning knob on top, though that too is somewhat harder for me to use, but it is better than nothing if the electricity goes out.
I was in need of a new can opener so I took your advice. I purchased the Hamilton Beach and it works great. Greatly appreciated.
Just what I needed to see. I'm over manual openers. It seems like they don't last very long. The Hamilton Beach was the one I was hoping to find a review for. Thank you for this.
I have the red and white opener that got decent marks. We really like it.
Perfect timing! I'm in the market for an electric can opener.
I like the kitchen mama. I hate cluttered counters and there is no space anyway. I can be stirring something while it's opening the can. If it dies I would buy another one.
I have a refurbished one (Hamilton Beach) that I paid $38 for and I Love it! Best money I’ve ever spent on an electric can opener
And just that quick the winner went from $30 to $40
I got the winner for some older friends a few years ago. It’s awesome.
No problems and is still going strong.
Hamilton Beach made it like the old school electric can openers yeah thank you for the comparison since in the market for an electric opener
Yeah right… the Hamilton Beach "never tipped over", considering you left your hand on top, gee whiz… you think maybe because you kept your hand on top???
Another example of the downhill slide in kitchen appliances. I am 74 years old. My mother had a GE electric can opener purchased in 1950. It worked on all types of cans, never tipped over, etc. Had a magnet to catch the cut-off lid so it didn't fall into the contents of the opened can. Never broke. Easy and safe for me and my sister to use as children. Eventually, the machine found its way to our family summer house, where it is still functioning perfectly!
I bought a kitchen mama broke after about a year.
Can you recommend a knife/scissors sharpener?
I just love her hints& it's rare I miss the TV shows on create tv&trally enjoyed the at home shows
I bought the kitchen mama and it broke the 2nd time I used it. I contacted the company 4 months ago and haven't heard back. Waste of $20 + dollars.
I absolutely love the Hamilton Beach can opener! I have an arm injury that kicks up when opening multiple cans for chili and this is a life saver! I hate things on my counter but this has earned a spot!
Hope yall do handheld milk frothers soon!
I have had a kitchen mama clone for years. I got it for the safety feature of no sharp lids, probably after I slashed myself. It did the job I wanted but the time it took was interminable. I will be getting your winner ASAP. Because my current opener did the job, I stopped looking.
Wow, one has to consume A LOT of canned items to justify rhis purchase. Bet they eat a lot of processed and fast foods too huh?
I love my Tornado F4. Similar in style to the Kitchen Mama but smaller. Have had it for 4 years and it's never let me down. For those of us with limited counter space, lacking places to plug things in, or limited dexterity, the units like the Tornado F4 are heaven sent. Best thing about the "slowness" of them? You can multitask! You click it on, hit the button and do something else. This really comes into play when making things that require lots of cans – like chili with beans. I can open all my cans, hands-free, while simultaneously browning my hamburger or minced chuck.
You kept the weight of your hand and arm on the opener. Unfair testing.
it's weird that the HB won since the way it opens cans is the exact method that they complained about for the manual can opener tests (the safety opener method–in the manual opener tests they said it left behind strings of adhesive)
I have one like the first opener you demonstrated. It's works great. I don't care how long it takes. I open cans while I'm browning hamburger or sautéing veggies! Wouldn't go back to your choice!
Thank you for this 🙂
I like how she didn’t even go through the other ones. I have the cuisineart one in my Bed Bath and Beyond cart 😂
