  1. I appreciate the constructive criticisms of the Ribalizer. I think some people might automatically buy your test winners, so it is important to articulate that it won for certain reasons and won't necessarily suit everyone.

  2. Up for viewer consideration, the Kitchenaid Grill refillable basting brush (530-0081). Sporting about 52 silicone bristles in a control friendly round format…but coverage you ask? Just a squeeze away from your implementation. After all, it's a baster that stands on end when desired. Sold with a self storing tapered cleaning brush. That said, I have not used mine yet. Looks like you suck up some sauce and deploy as needed.

  3. Thanks for all the hard work and great content. I value the research you guys put in. I don't like this video style (one expert with a listener that nods). I rather see 2 experts talking about the testing process. Also more shots would be nice about the testing or different outcomes.

  4. I didn't care for the Weber charcoal firestarters in the bubble pack, I was put off by the acrid black smoke that came off them.

My preferred method is a chimney starter with a chunk of egg carton(who has newspaper anymore?) and a drizzle of veggie oil, or set the chimney over the side burner of the gas grill. The side burner is FAST.

  5. I had the winning brush you spoke so highly of. It was your winning brush like a few years back. Normally you folks get it right but wow, not on this product. In my opinion this is the worst brush I have ever owned. So bad I eventually threw it away. It was awkward in the hand to use, was alright almost at appling sauce. But took up way to much table top space when you sat it down and made a real mess. And propane torches and chimney starters are the way to go although my brother still uses a electric heating element in a chimney and it works fine.

  6. 😱😱😱😱😱
This channel began with some serious peeks into high quality kitchen gear and culinary magic that actually can, and does, improve the cooking chore. Of late, however, the editorial policy seems to be steadily shifting from the more "quality" minded presentations for serious cooks, to an almost fast-food, slice-and-dice quality presentation. There are enough channels satisfying that need already. A shift in policy back toward a semi-professional presentation for serious cooks not only reflects back on the product manufacturers, but also upon the viewers, themselves. The niche for real quality revues and recipies is there for the taking, or losing, if quality is not a continuing priority.

  7. I haven't had a newspaper subscription since 2004.
I just rip some of the charcoal paper bag to use with my chimney fire starter.
Add a loosely wadded piece of paper towel, or paper napkin for easier lighting.
Splash on some used cooking oil if needed.

  8. Lump charcoal only and starter chimney. Also, news paper? The lump comes in a bag. Just rip strips off the inside liners. Just don't using anything from the outside bag unless it's not treated.

Otherwise, you could use a hole in the ground and some sheet metal if you want to smoke. Easy peasy. No special equipment needed.

  9. I really love America's test kitchen and the test segment, but I'm sorry, you guys really missed the Mark on this one. You should have slipped the ribbalizer, who cares, instead, you should have tested tools for cleaning that grill ! If you tested cleaning tools before, then you should have mentioned it.
