The amount of nitrites/nitrates you need to eat to have adverse effects is hundreds of pounds in a short time period, all the time. Just eat the bacon…
I like crispy and crunchy bacons
Surprised you didn’t recommend the best way: tray in oven but use a large sheet of parchment paper and some water. Parchment paper keeps it mess free, and the water helps it to get tender before it crisps.
Aluminum foil in the sheet pan. Makes clean up WAY easier! Oven is def the way to go tho
Crispy
Try the Ken Berry / Shawn Baker's methods, for bacon bits ideally
Chris Kimball showed the water in the pan method years ago on ATK.
Oh, we’ve had work done
I only cook my bacon (always thick cut) in the oven. I set it to 425, on foil for easy cleanup but am contemplating trying parchment and I don't worry about it preheating. With my oven, by the time it hits 425, it's ready to turn and takes 2-3 minutes more at that point. 15-20 total. It is always straight with few waves. It also allows me to cook whatever else I'm making in the meantime with no babysitting. I prefer mine slightly chewy if I'm making a BLT, otherwise I like it crispy
Cheap bacon with a flour coat turns into great bacon
She mumbles the oven temperature at 9:17. What did she say?
Prefer British bacon — never found it here in the US
Try frying in vinegar… 😉
The mental gymnastics to think that your breakfast bacon needs this level process instead of being normal.
I love watching Lan…listening to her calming voice…great teacher….and I'm gonna try her method. 😊
BTW: Bacon fat makes the best popcorn.
The best way to cook bacon is in a bacon microwave cooker. The only exception is if you brush first with bbq sauce. Then, bake in bacon holder. Neither in video. NG
but I don't like my bacon crispy: I want it properly cooked, but soft and flexible.
The best way to cook bacon is in the oven.
The reassurance here at 5:44 is so funny. I was just thinking 'If Lan hadn't already won me over, like 6 videos ago, I'd be very skeptical right now."
I believe in you! 😅
Also Lan's hair is getting incredible. 👌
It's easier if you cut them in half
Air fryer is now the best way to cook bacon. 5 mins and it’s perfect every time. Easy clean up, plus it’s already well drained, so no need for a paper towel.
And the bacon fat is easy to poor out and use with little burned bits in it.
Pan fried, thin, chewy
I like crispy in oven. So much easier. I put a sheet of parchment in the pan first to make clean up simpler.
That crunch at 7:58 seems so fake.
Never tried an air fryer? Flip it once. 20 yrs never a pan oven microwave.
PERFECT EVERYTIME, unless ur watching YouTube vids telling you to splatter your kitchen/oven🙄
This is sooooo wrong.
I had a Pavlovian response watching this video.
I just bake mine in the oven on a foil lined cookie sheet. Clean up is EZ
So, basically there is no change to the methods of cooking bacon ATK has recommended in the past. No testing of other methods such as an air-fryer or deep frying. Not a comprehensive test in any way. Watch the Fallow video on bacon cooking methods for something that goes beyond the water method.
Now I can make A+ Eggs(butter) 🍳& Bacon 🥓(water)❤
can't believe i watched this with great interest…so many things are very well done…thank you Ms Lam…
What about cooking it in a cast iron dutch oven? I’ve started cooking mine this way and it cooks quite well without the splatter. I do think I’ll try adding the water next time to see if it changes anything. I like mine crispy and … I don’t think I care if it’s flat, but it does seem that’s how I end up preparing it more often than not. hmmm.
Throw it all into a pot at once. Then stir every 3 minutes. I guess you could add water too. No mess, no fuss. Now do I have any in the frig?
The nitrite fact was awesome
You're a very good presenter. Hope you're right as I will try your method. Thanks.
I've noticed that the folks who always WANT bacon, never want to COOK bacon. Nor do they want to CLEAN UP after bacon. They also gobble up ALL the bacon.
Well, I refuse. He who wants bacon deals with it in its entirety. I'll be in the breakfast nook, sipping coffee and chatting with the cat. I'm sorry. But that's how I feel.
