The French Onion Pasta You’ve Been Missing!

Happy New Year everyone, I’m back in the kitchen! Today I have this French Onion Pasta with Gruyère Breadcrumbs that brings the cosy, comforting flavours of French onion soup into a pasta dish. The caramelised onions provide a deep, rich sweetness, balanced by a creamy cheese sauce and crunchy garlic breadcrumbs. It’s indulgent yet sophisticated, perfect for an elegant dinner or a hearty treat. The Gruyère cheese adds a nutty complexity, making every bite irresistible. Kenji sends his regards, Enjoy!

This Chef’s Knife is a versatile, (13.7″ / 35cm) all-purpose tool crafted for a range of kitchen tasks, from slicing tender chicken to cutting through firm beef with precision. Its moderate blade length and light weight make it comfortable for everyday use, whether you’re chopping herbs or tackling tougher cuts of meat. The knife’s lightness is easy on the wrist, which is ideal for longer prep sessions.

“I’ve been using this artisanal Japanese steel knife for a few weeks now, and here’s my take. It’s beautifully crafted, making it a great gift option. The knife feels quite light, which many home cooks might appreciate, though I personally think a slightly heavier handle would improve balance. The steel isn’t as strong as my German knives, but it sharpens up quickly and easily, and I find myself reaching for it often. It is a bit pricey, but that’s expected with Japanese steel. If you’re interested, I have an affiliate link—I’ll earn a small commission at no extra cost to you, in fact with coupon code above, you can save 20% at present. 4. I thought of this recipe for lunch today. I am Czech and I must say that it perfectly matches the conditions of our Central European cuisine, which was influenced by Austria and France. I would have the following use for the sauce. A great solution for stewed chicken. Chicken, preferably its parts, fry sharply in oil with butter, first on the skin side. Then pour water, salt and let it stew until the meat falls off the bone. Remove and proceed as in this recipe. I add caramelized onions, etc. We Czechs do not eat spaghetti, but dumplings. Since meat will soon be a luxury in Central Europe due to the cattle plague, I love this recipe and am including it in my diet!
