Great stuff here. I learned a lot.
Interesting podcast, but video is missing. Retro radio show format is not worth my time.
Great story. I love Tiki. It’s kitch in all the right ways. I don’t intend to take anything away from Smugglers Cove as a bar but how do you talk about tiki in the SF Bay Area and not mention the Tonga Room in the basement of the Fairmont Hotel. It’s been there since 1945 and it is an amazing experience.
Bridge, you are GREAT on these podcasts!
Hi, would you do this as a video, instead of a podcast? I detest podcasts, and never listen to them. I'm online with a video screen, podcasts make no sense on You Tube. Thanks! Gave it a thumbs down, as it is not a video, it is audio only.
I'd forgotten about Trader Vic's and other such restaurants and all the sappy tropical drinks that were so popular. I assume we were smitten with Hawaii and the south pacific.
I’ve always loved the tiki style places. Loved it so much we had our wedding rehearsal dinner at the Blue Hawaii in Nashville. For many reasons, it will always be bright in my my memory, even after nearly 46 years. The restaurant is gone now, but the marriage is going strong. I would love to find an existing tiki place to take my wife for our anniversary. There certainly isn’t one here in Evansville.
love these. the style, the audio and the playful way we are getting history lessons. please please keep these up!!!@
There is a much loved “Kon Tiki” restaurant where I live that has stood for around 60 years. Food is “meh” but I hear the “Scorpion Bowl” still packs a whallop!
I was just a little too young to get to experience the Tiki scene directly, but with older than average parents, I saw enough of it to be completely fascinated. Thanks for the podcast!
Our memories are go back to the Kon Tiki at the Montreal Sheraton which existed between 1958 and 1981. This restauran was, the first of the Kon-Tiki chain owned by Steve Crane. The Kon-Tiki in Cleveland and others in Boston, Dallas, Chicago Portland, OR and Honolulu were part of the same group.
I do kind of wish I was driving while this played, but still, this was a fun and informative listen. And one can never have too much Bridget Lancaster.
To the people who hate podcasts and only like videos, well, maybe don't listen. Just do something else.
Loving these podcasts!!
I kind of like the podcast. It reminds me of "The Splendid Table" on NPR. I can listen and play stupid Facebook games at the same time.
I watched the first, second and now I can say 3 times, you're out.
Tiki barber; a man who didn't start the Tiki craze, and doesn't need a barber.
Outstanding application! Brigette & Jack you nailed it. Thanks so much.
This is a total waste of time and energy. This is the 3rd. "proof" program that has been in my email. I think I am going to unsubscribe if this is what you call video!
Not a fan of this style of vids because I'm not sitting in my car 🤔🤷♂️
I am watching Youtube in order to listen to a radio broadcast? I am hearing sound effects that you shot this with visual info available. Why not provide a slide show in the very least?
???? and the recipes?
