The Perfect Grilled Picanha Steaks (How to)

Picanha, the superstar of Brazilian beef cuts, is celebrated for its mouthwatering taste that dances on your tongue! This sizzling sensation is not only a feast for the senses but also a budget-friendly way to wow a crowd. Imagine the sizzle, the aroma, and the smiles as your guests dive into this delicious delight—it’s a party in a pan!

These steaks are extremely easy to prepare. I started by preheating the BBQ to 475°F. I took the picanha out of the fridge 45 minutes before using it. This lets the meat come up to room temperature. I cut it into thick steaks. On a baking sheet (to reduce mess) I rubbed the steaks with a generous amount of salt, freshly ground black pepper and vegetable oil on both sides.

I cooked the steaks for roughly 2 minutes on one side and then rotated the steak 90° on the same side. Then I flipped the steak over and repeated the same two steps. There’s no need to keep turning steaks over many times while cooking. I cooked the steaks to somewhere between medium rare and medium (around 135°F). You can cook them for less time or longer depending on your preference.

Once the steaks were ready, I let them rest for about 5 minutes, indoors, covered with tented aluminum foil.

Soooo good!
