Spicy Pop Pulled Pork
RECIPE COURTESY OF REE DRUMMOND
Level: Easy
Total: 6 hr 10 min
Prep: 10 min
Cook: 6 hr
Yield: 18 servings
Ingredients
2 onions, peeled and quartered
1 whole pork butt (pork shoulder roast)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
One 11-ounce can chipotle peppers in adobo sauce
2 cans pop (I use Dr Pepper)
4 packed tablespoons brown sugar
Directions
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Start by placing the onion quarters in the bottom of a pot. Sprinkle the pork with salt and pepper, and then place on top of the onions. Pour the chipotle peppers over the top, and then crack open the cans of pop and pour them over the whole thing. Add the brown sugar to the liquid and stir.
Cover the pot, put in the oven and cook for at least 6 hours, flipping the roast 2 or 3 times during the cooking process. When it’s done, the pork will be dark and weird and wonderful. It’ll also be fork-tender. That’s when you know it’s done.
Remove the meat from the pot and shred completely. Then return the meat to the pot and keep in the juice until you need it. Divine!

Northern US: Pop
Southern US: soda
Florida: coke

I wonder if you can use beef instead of pork?? Hmmm
Love it! Thank you! Love your show too!!
I honestly thought the thumbnail was some kind of frog
What could you use instead of the soda?
Yes itโs pop LOL. I just cooked a butt in the pressure cooker I should try it this way I bet it would be really good. Great idea.
This looks delicious. I'm not a spicey person so I'll probably cut the spice in half. Thanks!
She the reason for the Dr Pepper shortage ๐ญ
Only Yankees say pop. Proof Oklahoma isnโt southern.
Diabetes : allow me to introduce myself
Made this in a slow cooker using 3 pork tenderloin cut in thirds. No grease to spoon off. No waste from fat. I strain the liquid before putting the meat back in the juice. Season with salt and pepper. A half can of the peppers is more than enough.
My sister and I make this and it is perfect the way Ree makes it. You people that criticize it shut up! Do you have a TV show and make a fortune? Enough said.
so she added brown sugar, because there was not enough sugar with the 2 cans of Dr. Pepper
Coke would be the best in itย .
Pork buttt
This is the best one! I browned all sides before oven.
It's interesting .. Not sure why it needs more sugar? The soda wasn't enough..
Never cooked with chipotle peppers gotta check it out.
do your best
Looks easy and delicious!
Another method is to cut your meat into smaller pieces, boil it slightly to 70% done to get rid of the meaty smell. Dispose the water, then put your meat in a pressure cooker with all the ingredient to get the best effect. In this way the meat will be less oily, โcleanerโ and does not affect the intensity of the taste. Also, it only takes an hour to prepare. :))
yummy!! ๐
