you can use any cereal for this…I've had it with frosted flakes and it was awesome. I am curious about captain crunch squares now.
😊👍
Salted or unsalted butter?
My variation: Instead of vanilla, add real maple syrup. Then add some crumbled bacon. You're welcome.
I sprinkle mini m & m's on top before letting them set
👍👍👍👍👍
YUM! Don't substitute a store brand for the cereal, the Kellogg's version is decidedly better in texture.
A comment for the algorithm
ABSOLUTELY brown the butter. Do not skip that. Also, if you've got it, some applewood smoked salt.
i like them the day of, but the next day they are always rock hard unlike the packaged ones. anybody have any ideas on how to keep them chewy for a couple of days?
I've had problems with the large marshmallows, where they don't melt nicely and they enter into a hard crack stage after cooling down (yes, I was careful with the heat). This same problem also happens with old marshmallows. I only use freshly bought regular marshmallows now.
Used to make these as an after-school snack in the microwave. I don't remember the recipe, but I had it down to a single serving. I'd melt everything in a bowl, stir it up, and eat it warm.
I thought you had to bake it also. Mind blown
Were the sides of the Dutch oven also greased? The mixture sure did seem to pour out very easily.
You can also do this in the microwave if you are very careful about. Won’t get the browned butter though.

can't say I have been to a party that served rice crispy treats, but I will sure make these for my family.
I really love mine slathered in Nutella!
Thank you so much 😊❤
Up the cool factor and toss in some walnuts or pecans.
Brown your butter people. That's the moral of the story.
Also calling them RKTs doesn't really flow at all 👎
ATK: We cant say Rice Krispies
Also ATK: Here's the best brand we like of every food possible.
I like to add peanut butter to mine.❤️
Only better when you add 1 cup of peanut butter to the normal recipe!
Puffed rice
Years back I came up with idea of using chocolate marshmallows and Cocoa Krispies and later tried adding about a half a coffee spoon of cocoa powder for extra taste. I'm sure others have had the same idea and added their own twists.
I cracked the code! It's Rice Krispies. You're welcome, Internet.
I would make these for my son to munch on during the school week.
We never got bored with them
❓ Can VEGAN MARSHMALLOWS be successfully subbed for the regular ones?
Thanks!👊🏿
Alton Brown has the greatest recipe for these. You got one part of it, brown the butter. Also lightly, and I mean lightly, toast the cereal in a warm pan or the oven as well. It makes them AMAZING!!!
I melt the butter and marshmallows in the microwave
I like adding a little almond or peanut butter, and if I have nuts and sesame seeds.
Never thought of salt. Good idea!
Oink, Oink!!
I enjoyed this segment so much! Thank you for being here.
Great recipe for making edibles with your canna butter too!!
