This might be the Perfect Steak Sandwich!

Best Steak Sandwich I’ve ever had!

Needed to use up some steak I thawed out before a trip, and this was so good we had it for lunch and dinner 😂

Ingredients:
• two filets, seasoned with @SPICEOLOGY SPG
• 3 tbsp beef tallow
• arugula

• 1 red onion, thinly sliced
• 2 jalapeños, thinly sliced
• 1 large tomato, diced
• 1 tsp brown sugar
• 1.5 tbsp Cajun honey rub @TFTI BBQ – Tony Ramirez
• 1 tbsp olive oil @Graza
• 1 tsp sherry vinegar
• salt to taste

• 2 parts mayo
• 1 part @POP Mustards smoked

1. Season up the steaks and let them sit for 5-7 mins. In the meantime, heat up the beef tallow and mix together the mayo and smoked mustard and pop that in the fridge.

2. Prep the veggies for the sweet and spicy topping, then combine the onions, jalapeños, tomatoes, brown sugar, bbq rub, salt, olive oil, and vinegar… and mix! Refrigerate until ready to serve.

3. Sear the filets over medium high heat for 90 seconds per side, flipping every 45 secs. Drop the heat to medium and baste until finished at 125°F. Remove and rest

4. Toast the roll of choice, then add the mayo/mustard sauce, arugula, the sliced steak, a generous amount of the veggie topping, and hit the top bun with more sauce.

Enjoy!

  2. I’ve been trying to make my own smash burgers at home and they don’t come out anywhere near as good looking as others I see and I am not sure why. Mine just kind of looked like burgers, they didn’t have the crispiness or anything, do I just need to cook it longer? More heat?

  3. That looks like the perfect balance of meat, veggies, condiments & bread.

Too often I see YouTubers pile on 10 x more meat/cheese than everything else, or they have no veggies & just drown their creation in sauce.

I want to be able to taste everything! Don't want a mess of sauce to be pouring all over the place either.

  4. Personally I like this sandwich with its colour and freshness. It's more of a "treat" sandwich for me using a more expensive cut, but other cuts can be a bit tough for a sandwich, even if done medium rare and rested up. Again it's not about packing as much "stuff" into a sandwich as possible, more about marrying up a handful of quality ingredients for a quality outcome, which this sandwich does.

  5. I am never going to use filet for a sandwich but this looks banging. Would love to try it with a cheaper cut lol.
I actually used to use filet tails for sandwiches but not every butcher will sell them and they can be awkward cooking to the right temp sometimes, although I don't mind a medium for sandwiches tbh

  6. I like that you made a delicious steak sandwich without 1000 calories of various condiments and toppings. Too many YouTube chefs are just combining different unhealthy recipes to make content
