Corn on the cob being boiled with no leaf looks so weird
I prefer to steam (pressure cook) fresh corn on the cob in my InstantPot for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes at high pressure. Quick release. Absolutely perfect and no water logged corn!
Corn on the Knobb. 🤣
This works BUT you need to adjust for frozen, we insert a probe thermometer between the kernels until it’s around 145 and then pull them out – it takes around 12-15 min IN boiling water with the heat on high, THEN turn off the stove. I wish more channels like this would talk about frozen veggies. Not everyone can afford fresh.
Thanks “What’s eating Dan”
Room temp corn? (Often refrigerated)
The cast iron pot holds and releases quite a bit more heat than a typical thin pot, seems these details were overlooked.
A recipe that says “cook til 150 and pull”. Yes a temp probe is needed but they are cheap
Raw is delish or nuke for 30ects if using buter.
Ive never had mushy corn, didnt even know that was possible. Do people boil it for hours?
What exactly is a mushy piece of corn on the cob? Does that mean a kernel is mushy? Does it mean the cob is mushy? Who writes this garbage?!
Does this method work regardless of stove type? Induction and gas stoves lose a lot of residual heat unlike convection stoves. Is the water hot enough left alone?

I much prefer sous vide — the corn has never tasted more corn-y
"No. Millions of American women, and some men, commit that outrage every summer day. They are turning a superb treat into mere provender. Shucked and boiled in water, sweet corn is edible and nutritious; roasted in the husk in the hottest possible oven for forty minutes, shucked at the table, and buttered and salted, nothing else, it is ambrosia. No chef's ingenuity and imagination have ever created a finer dish." — Nero Wolfe
Not to be rude, but the audio seemed weird, like a drive thru from the 90s
Love her voice.
in the microwave, in the ear, 4 minutes. perfection. keep your water, and your pots.
Thank you!
Pour the boiling water into a hard plastic cooler with lid, add corn and shut the lid. Corn will cook in the cooler and then stay warm from the insulation. Also convenient to carry from the kitchen outside.
Does this work on frozen corn on the cobb?
Q: what is the peek picking age? I prefer barely ripe baby kernels for eating on the cob bcoz it crunches and is mostly juice, but I like it older, denser, and plumper for cutting it off the cob
I just steam them. Takes about the same amount of cook time, except you only have to boil a few ounces of water not a whole pot.
Sounds raw to me😂
I put the ears in the oven, still in the husks. It takes about 30 minutes, but the taste is much better, and it's less messy.
I've been doing this since it first came out and it makes perfect corn consistently! We absolutely LOVE it! Thank you so much! Sometimes the simplest things turn out to be the best. 🌽🧈🧡
I swear, I have never in my life had overcooked corn on the cob. I didn't even know it was possible to overcook it.
3 1/2 minutes in the microwave with the husk on. After the microwave dings, wear gloves, cut off stem end, squeeze the ear out of the husk and almost all silk stays inside the husk. Brush with melted butter. Done.
This method is fantastic. I was skeptical but it is great. I grew up in corn country where boiling corn was the most common way to cook corn but they made 2 mistakes, added salt and boiled it too long. Try this before declaring it wrong.
And for gods sake stop microwaving corn.
No, no no no no, you can eat that stuff without cooking it, why would it take 30 minutes to heat it up? I steam my corn in a small amount of water for about five minutes and that is plenty of time
Too many silk hairs in that vid to be perfect. The microwave method eliminates that!
Um, clean that silk out better.
I swear by the microwave method, once I tried it in the microwave I never bother to boil water for corn anymore.
Most importantly, do NOT add salt to the water, or else you will end up with tough kernels
The audio is horrible
Is it just me or is the audio difficult to hear on this short?
Meh. I eat mine uncooked.
