I believe both of these grills are amazing. If you buy either one, you will enjoy it. If I smoked more food than I grill I think the decision would have gone the other way.

if you already have a weber kettle you dont need the huntsman. id keep the searwood. i just got the 600 bout a month ago and its been the best pellet smoker ive used.
Being that you already have a weber kettle, I figured you would keep the pellet grill because you can already handle your grilling with the kettle. I have 2 22" kettles, a kamado joe jr, a jumbo joe for portability, and a Traeger 34 to cover most of my bases. Also have a Blackstone but that's completely different.
Being kind of a charcoal "purist" and the fact that 90% of the time, it's just my wife and I, I went with the 22" Huntsman. I have done cooks for friends and I am amazed at what I can pack on that little Spider though. Just did a 16lb Turkey on it and had plenty of clearance. No need to spatchcock it. And it was the best turkey I ever made on any grill. But due to size, I can see why the Spider Huntsman isn't for everyone.
I think comparing these two is spot on. In my small back yard, I would want one cooker. I bought the Searwood before the Huntsman came out, and it works very well for me. I added casters, which should have come with it. I’ve used a smokebox with charcoal and wood chunks to get better smoke flavor and am happy enough with it. That said, if I were buying now, I think I would go with the Huntsman. I would also consider the Weber Kamado, but I think it’s generally at a considerably higher price point.
You can ship the Searwood to me!
It's odd that you based the results on grilling, since I see 2 other grills that a capable of grilling in the backgound. Seems like you'd want to keep the Searwood for space and ease of use on the days you do have the time or want to, to mess with charcoal. That being said, I woud have kept the huntsman as well. I do not own a pellet smoker, but theres too much that could possible go wrong all of the electronics. Nicly done sir!! looking forward to the next video.
Gotta be honest, there is no way in hell that pellets beat charcoal if it’s done properly. I don’t have a Sear-wood but I do have a bullseye pellet grill and it does well but my huntsman / W-Kettle both produce unmatched flavor and it’s not even close. 🤠
That's definitely a difficult decision, Johnny. I'd probably keep the Huntsman, too. I think I'm down to 6 or 7🤔 different pellet grills, all with their unique differences 😂
Great video. Better at 1.5x speed.
Since I already have a Weber kettle grill, I would keep the Searwood. Just need to buy one first.
Interested in the Weber. I’m only an hour and a half away if you haven’t sold it.
Charcoal / wood grills and pellet smokers are two different types of cookers. Although they are both OK in their own right they are not designed to excel in the same style of cooking. Pick your style of cooking and then compare equipment designed for that style. That being said I enjoyed the video. Thanks and have some fun.
Looks like the Weber brisket was wrapped with tallow and the Spider was not ?
With you 100%. Pellet grills will always win the “easy” contest, but that’s not why we grill! 😂
Anything but propane or an NG grill.
I purchased my Searwood last Sunday because of your video. Love it so far.
I would choose the Weber since i can't really do to much charcoal or wood cooking. I got sick a couple of years ago and since pellet grills and smoker dont have to much smoke they're easier for me to use.
If it's me, Weber for the win! That's just me though. Appreciate your recap.
Good vid, not sure why you want to keep the Spider when you have an Egg already on your porch though.
Let me start by saying Johnny is one of those humble soldiers of the Lord that selflessly does for others. Me starting chemo treatments yesterday, this guy is the first one at my door with one of those recipes we all come to watch. When you watch his videos, just know that cooking and equipment reviews are about 5th on the list of what he brings to this world. Thank you my Friend, your kindness is second to none.
Had lots of charcoal grills/smokers and will agree with most of this. However the Searwood is so versatile and quick. Since I got mine I haven’t used any of my other grills or smokers. I don’t know about your grill but mine gets scorching hot and easily sears/chars. Again not the same as charcoal, but I am loving the flavor. Not sure this is an even comparison but always great video. Thank you!
Well well, your cooking on the Searwood led me to purchase it 2 weeks ago. Sad to see it go from your channel.
Another great video! I smoke more than grill so the Searwood would be a good replacement if my current pellet grill dies!
Fun comparison! I think my choice would depend on what other grills I had, if any. I wouldn't want to give up the capacity of the Weber if that was my only grill, but if I had another similar grill then I would absolutely choose the Huntsman. As you said, it comes down to live fire cooking with charcoal!
