Today, Trevor is breaking down the Weber Spirit II VS. Napoleon Freestyle. These are both entry level grills and Weber has dominated this area for so long. Napoleon has released a new product to compete at the weber price point, The Freestyle. Watch as Trevor points out the differences between these two grills.
These two grills are around the same price, but come with some slightly different features. The Napoleon Freestyle seems to come out ahead in most of these comparisons. Although these grills are the same size, the Napoleon has an extra burner in it compared to the Spirit. This is very useful and worth the extra money because it can help with searing and hight BTU output. Another thing to point out is that the Napoleon has a superior ignitor. The ignitor works with turning on the gas so you only need one hand to start. Thats a small perk, but when it comes to cooking that could be very helpful! The Napoleon Freestyle just seemed beefier overall. You can see the thermometer is larger, more burners, it comes with a bottle opener. The Napoleon Freestyle is an absolute beast at its price point.
The Spirit did have some features that stood out. The Weber Spirit has a holder for propane that actually tells you how much you have left by the weight of it. I thought it was pretty cool, but Trevor was not the biggest fan. Another thing thats really cool about the Weber is the strength of the enamel. Weber is now for being scratch proof and every weber we’ve tested really has been! They really do stand behind their word on that, so thats super cool!
Overall, the Napoleon Freestyle takes the W. There are so many reasons to spend the little bit of extra money for the Napoleon Freestyle. We high suggest this product as an entry level grill. Thank you so much for watching. Let us know what you think! Like, subscribe, and leave a comment.

One burner vs two burner , no contest .
Napoleon never honors gheir warranties. Weber is no hassle. Napoleon charges you shipping for warranty claims if you're lucky
I have had no experience with Napoleon but I have a Weber Spirit that I have been using for a long time, I'm thinking about 20 years. The durability of this grill is absolutely amazing. I have had to replace the flavor bars as they do deteriorate. The grill is still using the original burners and the original igniter is still working. I'm going to get a new grill just because it looks so bad being 20 years old. Considering the service this Weber has given I will get another Weber. Thanks for the video it was interesting.
I didn’t see it mentioned in the comments and maybe you still haven’t figured it out, but the flat side of the Weber grates is the seer side. Also the white background on the Weber thermometer is easier to see at a distance. These things matter lol.
Those new buyers looking for their first grill, number one thing to check for in a grill is to have a fully, seamless aluminum tub.
If you look at Char Broil grills, there are seams. Seamless means those grease / oil will not find its way down to your garage floor and stain it for good. I hated Char broil grill for that.
Makes me hate to grill often. I’m talking about upper horizontal seams above the tub.
the video makes zero sense one grill clearly has 3 burners one has 2..duh..i wonder which one gets hotter
Oh boy. 🤡
Takes about five minutes to figure out he’s biased
Are they both made in China? Or designed in California
Great reveiw…no BS or bias, entertaining as well! Great Job!
How would you cook a 1” ribeye or sirloin on the nap?
So glad you made this video. Both are great grils but you made it easy to compare.
Napoleon Rogue 425 (3-burner) vs Freestyle 425 (4-burner)? Is there any difference other than the number of burners? Neither models have side burners, extras etc. Is there any advantage in getting the rogue which has 1 burner less at the same price point?
i agree with what other people have said that you mentioned at the start of the video. the Weber 315 would be a better comparison. obviously the extra burner is going to provide more heat. the main feature though is the price point. you basically get an extra burner for about the same price. that does make it a better value vs. the weber.
I always told myself that I would only use a charcoal grill, After purchasing this Weber Spirt 2 I will never go back to charcoal! Great grill!
I wish you could give the heat energy out put of the burners it matters in your review preferably in Mega Joules
I agree would prefer you review size for size Thx
I found this video very useful as I have never owned or cooked on a grill but want to start. I am only one person so I don't need a large grill but I wanted one with a stand, not a table-top grill.
In my work place we dont say apples to apples or apples to oranges.
We say ashes to ashes and dust to dust or ashes to dust
Call me picky, but I like the Napoleon thermometer with the numbers all oriented to the center of the dial. This is standard on almost all equipment dials.
The Weber reminds me of someone who turns the map to keep track of where they are.
Why did you open the bread like that?
The Weber had a 10% discount (military) at Lowes. It is a fantastic grill – perfect for my small retiree patio…….. (cooks wonderfully).
The Napoleon Grill is over $200 more expensive. Priced around $800 I'm not sure how you can deem it "entry level". By the way, I got my Weber 210 at Home Depot for $230.
Must agree with review – they are very similar, but comparing 3 burners to 2 is a HUGE apple to apple difference.
My first Napoleon, less than 7 years on the job, burner mount rusted out. Then, after fixing rust hole, regulator went. Won't heat up past 400 degrees.I checked with others that had these grills, Napoleon, in Barrie Ontario, won't even answer their phone. The customer service doesn't exist. I bought new sear plates because they were rusted out at 5 years and the lighter died at 5 yrs also.I checked with the other Napoleon owners and ,I ended up buying new sear plates from Amazon. The unit was covered every winter. I'm going with a Weber E215 this time.
