My Weber Summit bought from Ace Hardware is great. The 9mm stainless grill grates don't even show any sign of wear or rust even after years of use. Hands down the best grill I've ever owned and cooks mighty fine meat.
Lion grills ???
Had a Broil King. POS. Sold it for a Weber.
Weber makes their Genesis line in Illinois. I had one in Chicago, it lived outside. Cooked on it year round in rain and snow for 15 years. After all that time i was able to get new grates, flavorizers, and knobs to make it like new to pass it on to my brother and it’s been going strong 3 years since then. I will never buy anything else, skip the gimmicks of the Summit line and stick with the Genesis line, they even have stainless options and you can get a grill for less than $1500 that will last decades if cared for. Buy bluetooth probes if you really have to, if these off brand grills can last a decade i guarantee those goofy screens won’t.
Warranty?
Weber is the best this guy always hates on Weber
Ill never reccomend anything but weber lol. Tried and tested by me
I like Webbers cause I can rebuild them with original parts.
I have the Napoleon Pro 665, bought before covid, couldn't be happier with this grill.
I can do pizza's in it, the rotisserie is amazing 2 chickens at once comes out flawlessly (just remember your drip tray), smoking is decent having a solo smoker as well to compare too. Easily gets up to 700+ degrees, side infrared burner absolutely rocks. The fully welded deep 304 stainless steel fire box, heavy burner tubes, flame tamers, heavy grates and double steel lid not only holds up to the heat, but come -30 outside with wind maintains it. I Cook all year round!
Very solid construction. I take it apart 2 times a year, take everything (other than the bbq) to a pressure washer bay to clean spring and fall we use it so much.
No batteries for lights, plug in a cord. That's your igniter, lights and has another outlet on the back for your rotisserie motor.
Absolutely beautiful machine.
I have a Weber Summit which I bought circa 2008-9. Some of the components had started to show their wear about the onset of the pandemic. Contacted Weber and they sent me essentially everything I needed to rebuilt the grill (firebox, burners, IR unit, etc, etc) at no cost under warrenty. I'll get 20 years out of that grill for about the $1,500 that I paid for it originally. I really can't think of a better value.
Weber
Followed your advice and bought a Napoleon 2 years ago. Definitely not better than a Webber.
I have a 18 year old vermont castings. it sits outside in Calgary and works like a charm. one of the knobs have broke but it still works with a pair of pliers. I think i should get another 3-5 years out of it. never had to ask for maintenance. natural gas of course.
I’ve had a Ducane 5 burner stainless grill for over 25 years. I know Weber bought them years ago. Not one bit of rust although I’ve had to replace the burners and heat diffusers. I changed it over to natural gas since I got an outside outlet for natural gas. It has a rotisserie and side burner that I use all the time. I’ll never buy another grill. I don’t think any of these new grills would last half as long!
Looking for a grill and these are a little too pricey but good information. One thing I have noticed is that the rave reviews for Weber almost always talk about grills purchased some time ago. I have read that Weber is not what it used to be, also very expensive for what you get. What is the story with a new, one or two year old Weber Genesis?
What's with all the lighting on a grill? Are you cooking burgers or running a live concert? Which one has a fog machine? This is just silly.
All these grills are crap because they use metal "flavor bars" placed close to the cooking surface. What you want are ceramic briquettes or ceramic plates that actually retain heat and can therefore be placed further below the cooking surface. Much better for searing. One brand that has these is Broilmaster, which is what I use.
There is nothing wrong with Weber and most people don't need a BBQ grill that cost more than $1000. In fact a grill for around $700 is just fine.
Also – I watched every single season of Black Mirror, I don't want BBQ grill that has "Smart device" embedded. A grill should be a very basic and simple thing that doesn't require computers to work. 😀
For me the biggest issue that is missed here is heat intensity. This is critical for a fast preheat and effective searing. 15k+ BTU per burner is entry level for a serious gas grill. Do you agree?
I agree at Weber being overrated especially when they under power their burners down to around 11k BTU per burner on some models. I’ve found good value in the little known Bull brand.
Why do those grates have a square hole cut out at the end? I have that too and I’m not sure what it’s for
Stainless sucks for grilling…period. Why dont restuarants use stainless grills instead of cast iron? Why are cast iron pans still the best for searing and seasoning? I’ll take my $400 nexgrill over any one of these in a heartbeat. If anyone thinks they need a $2000-$4000 grill to make good food they would be better off spending that money on cooking lessons.
Best strategy for a grill, buy the one on sale July 4.
Charbroil has huge sales. You can get an awesome grill for under $300.
I have a Weber from the mid 90s that blow all of this new garbage away.
My 10 year old all stainless Broil King is still rolling, been. a Weber guy my whole life. Have 2 Weber charcoal kettles currently one is a dedicated pizza oven. Will 100% replace the Broil King with a Broil King, they are indestructible.
Weber is an awesome grill with outstanding customer service. I never had a grill with a side burner, which I would never use.
My dad bought me a Weber genesis 24 years ago. Clean it every now and then and replace the flavor bars every 5 years or so and it is still running like a champ. My Weber kettle is about 20 years old and gets weekly action. As long as they continue to work I have no need for anything else.
I'll keep my Beefeater.
From Denmark
This is actually crazy (for me at least 😉 ). Although it's a decade and more ago, I always thought about the Weber Summit as THE grill, and that I would never get it. I've almost always thought that. The Summit was completely out of reach.
Now I have the Napoleon Rogue 525 SE and I would rather have that over the Summit.
It seems to me that Weber have really lowered their standards.
I really wish one of these higher end companies would create a grill / griddle interchangeable system like the Grilla Primate. I want both a grill and a griddle but don't have the space for two separate units. The Primate meets this interchangeable need but I would love to see some extra bells and whistles. Plus I can't help but imagine at its $1,300 price point they have to be cheaping out on something.
Weber spirit 2 is all most people need, most time use only half of that, one burner. I repair everything on the Weber parts are easy to find
