  1. I worked with George Goble in the 80's when they had VAX-11/780 minicomputers at the department. He had a full blown video arcade game in his office called TEMPEST, and the vanity license plate on his car said UNIX. We LARPed dungeons and dragons in the steam tunnels, and played games like ZORK and colossal caves ADVENTURE and LARN on the original ARPANET, on green screen adm3 terminals with cherry keyboards running unix ( remember the unix prompt +++ and learning to program in FORTRAN with IBM punch cards ? ). Fun Times.

  2. I am honored to report that George Goble was a year behind me at Centerville (IN) Jr. High and was already a certified genius, having demonstrated a basic binary computer that could do math using collected components including an old rotary phone dial. That was in 1966!

  3. Foolish idiot! Liquid oxygen explosives were popular before dynamite became invented and widely available. The only reason he's not dead is the LOx was added while the fire was going, reverse it and KABOOM!

  4. Fun fact: this is the sort of science behind Roy Mustang's Flame Alchemy. His transmutation circle transmutes the surrounding gasses into a mass of oxygen, causing a mere spark to ignite into a roaring inferno in the direction of his target.

  5. This man is a professional. Do not try this at home.

Now that we've said that, we know damned well that you're going to try this at home, so just pay attention and remember that he's using what we professional pyromaniacs call a "long-handled thingy" to light the BBQ.
