  1. I absolutely love ATK but have never seen a dish where literally every single step was wrong. They should have called it “ Jamaican stew peas with a twist”. A lot of ingredients not used in a traditional recipe eg Bay leaves. The end product actually looked like “puke”. I don’t think they did enough research, they would never make say a French dish and screwed it up and not get negative feedback.

  2. Long or short of what I wanted to say DON'T SPOIL OUR MEALS I know you guys don't like criticism and maybe my word "VOMIT" was wrong but that is definitely how we do our stewpeas and I'm sure all of us as Jamaicans feel the same way just to see what is being done

  3. Great to see more Jamaican cuisine on ATK. Well I have been eating Stew Peas for over 30 years and the original recipe calls for Salted Pigs Tails. Ham Hicks and salted turkey necks work but ORIGINAL JAMAICAN 🇯🇲 RECIPE is PIG TAIL (corned).

  4. Like so many international dishes this one was somewhat "americanized" too. Be it a German, French, Italian or – as seen here – Caribbean meal, they're next to never authentically prepared by this channel. 😒

  5. 1:29 What exactly is this about. Stew Pea dont cook like that no Oil of any kind is used. She cooking Red Beans and Rice. Never see or use Celery in any Jamaican food never mind Stew Pea. No need to pierce Pepper, you get a hot pepper and wouldmnt be able to eat, just wash and put unpierced pepper in the pot
Uncovered oh NO and not ever is food cooked uncovered. Who she watched cook this?
5:11 kneed it, no you mushed it; flour must be kneeded not the tossed Flour sticky
Spinners because they are rolled/ spin in palm.
6:42 need more liquid need more than five minutesto cook
7:20 that is Green Onion n I t Scallion big differences in flavor
Knew eventually someone would connect Stew Peas with Red Beans and Rice

  6. Think the part she missed is what makes jamaican stew peas so amazing is the different type of meat we had to it and it should have a lot of meat in it other than that small amount of meat. Very good attempt though because you used up the flavors like the scotch bonnet, thyme, scallion and garlic.

  7. My absolute favorite Jamaican dish, especially made with oxtail. These ingredients are a little different than what I grew up with, but you really can't go wrong with Stew peas, spinners and white rice.

  8. If you're gonna do or showcase a traditional recipe you should at least try to do it authenticly. Ham hocks? No, It is usually made using salted beef and or salted pig's tails. Both are very easily sources throughout North America.

  9. Well hmmm, not how we Jamaicans make stew peas but it was done your way, what I don't like is if you're gonna say Jamaican food, well do it the Jamaican way. Don't say Jamaican stew peas and do something different. Better you had said your spin on Jamaican stew peas. Lol we just make spinners and drop in the pot, no perfection, nevertheless thanks for the effort.

  10. So cool to see Antoinette again!! Been looking for her since ATK NG which I wish would come back for another season. Her winning recipe for burnt ends is still on my to-cook list. This looks like a winner too. Great presentation.
