The Secret to Perfect Grilled Ribs | Juicy & Delicious BBQ Ribs Recipe

Ingredients:
• 2 racks baby back ribs (about 4–5 lbs)
• ¼ cup yellow mustard
• ½ cup BBQ dry rub (or use the one below!)
• 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite)

Optional Dry Rub:
• ¼ cup brown sugar
• 1 tbsp smoked paprika
• 1 tbsp chili powder
• 1 tsp garlic powder
• 1 tsp onion powder
• 1 tsp black pepper
• 1 tsp salt
• ½ tsp cayenne (optional for heat)

1️⃣ Prep the Ribs
• Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs (use a butter knife to loosen it, then pull it off with a paper towel).
• Rub ribs all over with yellow mustard — this helps the seasoning stick.
• Generously coat with your dry rub on both sides.
• Let sit for at least 30 minutes (or refrigerate up to overnight for maximum flavor).

2️⃣ Preheat the Grill
• Heat grill to 275–300°F for indirect grilling.
• If using charcoal, push coals to one side; if gas, turn off burners on one side.

3️⃣ Grill Low & Slow
• Place ribs bone-side down on the cooler side of the grill.
• Close the lid and cook for about 2.5–3 hours, maintaining 275–300°F.
• Check occasionally and rotate if needed for even cooking.

4️⃣ Sauce & Finish
• When ribs are tender (meat pulls back from the bones about ½ inch), brush generously with BBQ sauce.
• Move ribs over direct heat for a few minutes per side to caramelize the sauce — watch closely to prevent burning.

5️⃣ Serve
• Let ribs rest about 5–10 minutes, slice between the bones, and serve with extra sauce on the side.

  3. I like to make them in the oven; low & slow, then either add liquid smoke, or finish them off on the grill for just a little bit; easier to control the amount of char. Definitely slathered with bbq sauce either way!
