Fish sticks were meaty in the early ‘50s about the same time TV trays became a thing but they quickly degraded to mush with no resemblance to fish at all.

I don't have any memories of fish sticks/fingers. Fish filets were a favorite and I recall having Mrs. Paul's back in the day with bottled tartar sauce (I make my own now)
