  1. I gave up making high-heat searing meals on the stove. It's just too much of a chore cleaning up the splatter. I just step outside and use the grill on the back porch with a lodge griddle mounted on it. So, in that case, I'd prefer the lighter, easier, non-stick models for lower heat chores like pancakes and grilled cheese.

  2. Sending a big thankyou to the comments section! I find the comments section way more useful than ATK’s reviews – and the comments here are another great example. I know the company is huge, and they always bang on about how many people are involved etc; but they are really superficial reviews. Either that – or I know waaaaaay too much about espresso machines. 😂

  3. I have never had an electric griddke that actually heated evenly. Hot and cold spots, and one that would reach temperature, but then couldn't maintain it. Even for something like pancakes. I wish you would have tested temperature across the entire surface.

  4. To represent bare steel electric griddles, you should have chosen something like Vevor brand. They have tall "splash guards" on three sides, so runoff shouldn't be an issue. That said, I have seen videos of how restaurants clean their large griddles, and it's more work than a griddle with a ceramic coating. (I don't have a Vevor.)

  5. American expat here – I have only seen one-sided griddles like this in restaurants. At home everyone here has 2-part "clamshell" electric griddles that double as large sandwich presses. Most models open flat to cook lots of pancakes or burgers, but the folding feature is very useful.

  6. Why did you recommend Balmuda? Based on your description, food can run off its side easily, the max temperature is 430 degrees, and it is more than twice the price of your other recommendation. Seems silly to recommend it, given it is for special purposes.

  7. I have the Cuisinart for my induction range, and it works very well. I also picked up the hex clad dual burner griddle, and it is very good. The lodge griddle will not work on induction because it does not lie flat enough.
