What I love, is when I search "American's test kitchen sponge," the very first result is the Amazon store link so I can buy it easily. Because I'm in Australia, this is very useful.
being a homeowner in your 20s is hard.
This looks like an identical video review that ATK posted in 2019, but with 2 different presenters.
I watch a lot of YouTube videos and saw the American Test Kitchens video stating this sponge was the top rated. Personally I have no idea what that video was thinking! I have used this sponge for 2 weeks and on the blue side of the sponge, annoying pieces of the sponge keeps coming off everywhere. I’ve never seen a sponge fall apart so quickly. Don’t buy!
Same script twice
I get my dish sponges from ikea & dishes brush from Ikea se well as Tj maxx/Marshall's
So this is the exact video that you made before just with a man talking about the tests instead of a woman. Exact same sponges, same tests & wording. I had just finished the first video & saw this one next. Why remake the same sponge video with the same original tests & the only thing that was different was the "host of the video? Weird.
What about Scotch-brite's sponges with scrub dots? Are the dots worth it or just a gimmick?
✌️&❤
The Smiley face one 😁 it's designed to respond differenly to hot and cold water…🙋🏾♀️
💚 Small enough for the small jobs big enough for the big jobs…Get in Sponge mode for these demon spirited people out here and when you're dealing with people period..Soak it all up😎
I buy my scrubber sponges from Dollar Tree 6 for a dollar. Did ATK check out these sponges No! Does anyone from ATK shop at Dollar Tree for kitchen or cleaning equipment probably but the snobs running the show don't or won't admit to it. Most of this country shops at this national chain but ATK is tone deaf to this. I love the show but wonder what the message is they are trying to send.
yeah…i’m gonna stick with the second choice that also happened to be the cheapest: the darker blue ridged sponge he used as a demo for texture
I've NEVER had sponges in my kitchen. They are also not allowed in commercial kitchens and you will flunk an inspection. They are a petri dish of bacteria. Dish towels, paper towels and tea towels should be the only wiping media you have in your kitchen. That way they can be washed or thrown in the trash. YUCK
Excellent test methodology and summary BUT you only said the name of the winning sponge, there was no overlay to show the details (including how to spell it) nor is it in the video description. Please add this vital info here and consider doing so for all past & future videos.
I use a scotch Brite pads. Get them at home depot. Using them for 30 years. Great on stainless steel.
Sponges are basically germs spreaders unless you soak them in Bleach after every use
America is getting more and more dumb each day…
I bought the scrub daddy and wasn't impressed – too soft when warm and wasn't able to scrub well, wasn't able to compress well enough when cold (where you need to scrub but want a little contouring) and held onto greases and oils too much – I personally grew up on Dobie sponges and they are OK but I use the Scotchbrite one all the way to the left mainly – I found a killer deal a few years back (24 for $10.50) and I'm still going through them 4 years later – they hold up well enough and can usually go for a few months if they get rinsed really well after use
Oooo who lives in pineapple under the sea, absorbent and porous and yellow is he.
Not even close Scotch-Brite Delicate Care Scrub it won't scratch even glass and fits in every nook and cranny. To clean and sterilize get wet with soupy water, squeeze a moderate amount of water out and microwave for 2 minutes.
the link in the description shows an out of stock, the pack is available for shipping on amazon for 8$ here https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007C5IH4C?ie=UTF8&tag=etaleusocedar-marketplace-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1634&creative=19450&creativeASIN=B007C5IH4C&m=A1VS4XBNFDXBYR
I've had zero issues getting rid of food from the silicone sponge and they're super easy to sanitize
I use what they use in commercial kitchens: stainless steel scrubbers! I use them more lightly on non-stick surfaces. I haven't had any problems. They clean up well, do a great job quickly and last forever. Sponges harbour germs! I use sponges where they do the best job only.
I grew up with terrible cellulose sponges but I've been using the non-cellulose sponges (blue wavy one) since their incarnation around the early 2000s iirc. I SWEAR by them and am shocked at how hard they remain to find in stores despite being so superior to their cellulose competition, which so many seem stubborn to "modernize" away from because it's not what they've used most of their lives. My roommates in particular are so weird, they would rather use a cellulose sponge or even just a washcloth, both of which STINK up the entire kitchen and your hands within a day or two of use and possess inferior absorbency, scrubbing properties and become hard, brittle and compressed as well as fall apart over time. The non-cellulose sponges smell neutral after even a month of use and scrub and absorb so well it's night and day. Plus they hold their shape indefinitely and don't become all stiff and crunchy when they're dry. Even on this ATK video, I was skeptical they would pay attention to these points and I am sad to say my suspicions were confirmed. Oh well, no one's perfect but hopefully one day the masses will catch on and cellulose sponges will finally go the way of the dinosaur…
Cooking eggs is why you buy a non-stick frying pan.
I thought I would Sponge off your knowledge of which one to buy 😂
What about bacteria growth?
What should we be concerned about health wise with these?
I mean, who actually cooks scrambled eggs without any fat in pans that are not non-stick?? And expect an easy cleanup?
This guy makes sponges sound dirty. ( Pun intended )
Guys it’s time to switch to more eco-friendly and sustainable products! Why promoting a product that will litter our world for half an eternity just for a usage of a few days?!
I am a professional chef and I hate all sponges. A combination of a green scrubby, a metal scrubby, and cotton cloths is the best way to go.
Seems to me that they didn't mention the most important aspect of a sponge: how long does it last before it becomes too gunky to use?
Eliminating anything that can’t be used with non-stick cookwear was a mistake IMHO. Most of the pans and tools you use in the kitchen are not that sensitive and you lose a lot of scrubbing power and time.
Cleaning a burned pan with non-stick compatible sponges is a chore but relatively easy with normal ones. You can use their soft side for the sensitive non-stick surfaces.
i dont know if she was being sarcastic or not but it really was more important than alot of other items they have done. i love and will watch everyone of these. but a kitchen sponge is something 75%+ ppl use every day. i will never be able to afford a $125 knife or a $200 blender. but i use my walmart knock off kitchen sponge 3-5 times a day. and when it cant or shouldn't be in the kitchen anymore it goes to the bathroom or out in the garage for the guys to use on the outdoor furniture or wheels. i wish they would do the dawn power wash. i have some, husband wanted to try it, i have found i dont use it. i just have a sponge filled with suds and dawn run hot water and tada clean plate. but i think we are just in the habit of doing it that way. i have used it once and it was nice. maybe i am just old and set in my ways. same with my Walmart knock off kitchen sponge…
I’m a fan of the silicone ones with a harder silicone on one side and the bristles on the other.
My sponge is not on there. Mine is the Ocelo scrub pad that says "even eggs and cheese don't stick".
Love the sponge winner. Gotta say on a totally random note – I miss Julia’s upturned collars… They’re her signature – along with being a top chef & presenter, obviously. They suit her 100%. Either way, her choice, and no idea why I’m stanning a collar! For what it’s worth, I’m also loving all the new content and accessibility options too…
