I Made Pink BBQ Sauce

Ever wanted to make Pink BBQ Sauce? It’s a thing apparently. There were some images i’d been sent of a Barbie crossover with Heinz that I don’t know if were legit, but decided to give it a go at making my own from scratch – proper homemade mayo and a BBQ sauce, pink optional!

_Ingredients:_
*For the Mayo:*
250ml Rapeseed Oil
1 Egg
1 Lemon
1tbsp white wine vinegar
1tbsp Djion Mustard
*For the BBQ Sauce:*
300g caster sugar
200g ketchup
100ml cider vinegar
2tsp paprika
2tsp onion powder
High concentrate pink food dye

  1. Although this was a bit of fun, as long as I am making the recipe from scratch, it's kind of interesting too. I genuinely would like to try and make some completely dedicated colours – like the green Big Mac, some of that an be naturally dyed too! Anyhow, hope you enjoy and yep it did taste good – it's still in the fridge!

  2. I'm a big barbie fan and was so excited when I heard of the barbie-cue sauce, but then immediately upset when I found this wasn't going to be released in my country. But now I can make my own. I'm so excited.

  3. Mayo at home is way quicker and easier to make than the method you demonstrated and…foolproof. When using a stick blender use a container that is only slightly larger in diameter than the blender head (a 20oz Yeti sized vessel is perfect). You can add all of your ingredients at once, in any order. Just add all ingredients and blend (don't move the blender) until the liquid emulsifies and rises above the blender head. Then you can move the blender as you wish. I call it 1 minute mayo.

  4. Top tip for mayo made with a stick blender- Most come with a tall, thin beaker/jar which the mixer can be dipped in. Put ALL the ingredients in the jar, insert blender, mix. Instant mayo (well, ten-ish seconds).

  5. You should just do a whole line of vids of making foods with a color they really shouldn't be, of course with all the parts made from scratch as you said, otherwise you'd just be coloring stuff of course… Perhaps even try getting stuff to become a color without food dye if possible.

  6. The mayo and ketchup sauce is called Mayochup in Canada which is a bit unfortunate as it means sh*tface in some dialects of Cree which is one of our indigenous languages. Also I miss your face in the thumbnails.

  7. As an American I've never seen a mayo BBQ sauce let alone a pink one. Usually our BBQ sauces are more runny, with a consistency between water all the way to molasses depending on the binder. Gotta try some mayo BBQ
