Join Andy Baraghani in the Bon Appétit Test Kitchen as he makes pasta with tomatoes and chickpeas. If you don’t have a can of tomatoes, tomato paste will work just fine. Cook a couple of tablespoons in a small skillet alongside the chickpeas until it darkens before adding to the chickpeas and proceeding with the recipe.

Having made this recipe twice and then dug into pasta e ceci, this recipe sucks. Go elsewhere, following this will end up with a watery, bland waste of ingredients.
This is my favorite meal I make it all the time!
The exchange @10:54 I DIED 🤣😂💀🤣😂
meatless monday vibes – so true <3
A nice one just to see, Bravo!
Man you sound Irish. Are you Italian Irish or Italian American or Irish Italian?
i made this and ate all of it on my own. no regrets at all, it was AMAZING.
I did this dish like him and added butter for richness. Tasty 😍
Man stop him stop him the man finishing off all your ministrony you have Man!!
I think that is called ministrony. Man!!
I find fab boy irritating and to dramatic for me, and the video could be half as long!
Second time making this recipe (first time is always a disaster) wow it really does taste like a better version of Spaghettios. I changed the sequence of one ingredient, put chickpeas in after the onions, used a little less water and it was amazing. TY for such an incredible winter veggie treat.
The tall man tripled dipped . Putting his saliva back in the dish.
At least the women said she was aware she was double dipping
Why not serve in small bowls.
Andy i notice while you were cooking and checking out flavour,Repeatedly, you would taste with wooden spoon and then use again to stir in the pot.
All poor food safety practise.
Come on you all, hold youself to the minimum of not double dipping, and use new spoon to taste while cooking.
Someone should make Egyptian koshary. Another delicious pasta dish with chickpeas. But also lentils, rice, garlicky vinegar tomato sauce and fried onions. 🤤
This guy is such an attention hog. I watch a lot of BA vids and he always finds a way to walk through everyone else's shoot. Very irritating 🤔👎🏾👎🏾🙁
Th only hung BA is missing is an Asian. Like maangchi!
this guy must get so much pootang with that Winona Ryder shirt.
What's that? He's …..?
Oh. I see.
Nevermind.
I saute zucchini with the onions, which goes great with the tomatoes and the chickpeas.
FAKE ITALIAN ALERT
cant even pronounce cucina povera properly
Pasta with Hummus 😂 I can not imagine myself eating it
I love how at the end he shares the dish with his friends and coworkers💖
The dish looks very delicious, I know Andy said peasant dish but I would add some shrimp, what do you think Andy 🤔🍤
Andy can please make gnocchi in a dish?
I learn something new every time I watch Andy. I have to find this pasta. I am a vegan so I love dishes with no meat this gives me great ideas 💡 Thanks for sharing
When Andy took off his apron at the beginning, didn't you think/hope/pray that he was going to take off his tee-shirt too and do a full strip-tease in the kitchen? No? Just me? Ok then.
I love how they think they sound fancy when they ar.just saying they name of the dish in the orginal language haha.. pastas y garbanzo …
It is Italian, not Spanish. "E ceci" ay chechi.
More please
I want that pot. What manufacturer and size is it?
Would using dry chickpeas and soaking overnight be a better option to eliminate the tinny flavor you mention caused by the can ?? I didn't realize/notice that tin cans have an effect, flavor wise, on beans.
I just made this (and I did add some butter) and it was SO GOOD. I'm not going to lie, I stood in the kitchen and ate all of it when it was done. I'll hate myself later, but the flavors were on point. Perfect comfort food. I used orecchiette because I've never seen calamarata anywhere.
Ok y’all, I’m inspired. I think I’m going to steam some mussels in this. Oh yeah, a crusty loaf of fresh bread to mop up the juices… .
Holy cow …. Not even a simple thing like pasta and chickpeas are you able to do ….
Just zero. Nothing, nothing. You have the incredible ability to RUIN and mangler any recipe.
Porca vacca…. Nemmeno una cosa semplice come la pasta e ceci siete in grado di fare….
Proprio zero. Nulla, niente. Avete l'incredibile capacità di ROVINARE e storpiare qualsiasi ricetta.
Mmmm…keen to give this a crack – looks delicious 😋
Thanks again!
Andy is so cute. I love watching him cook. But it's not all about the looks, he makes incredible looking dishes.
I have gone back to this recipe over and over. I love Andy. I love this recipe. Everyone loves me when I make it. Simple yet sophisticated at the same time. I love it soooo much. I crave it on the regular. and I LOVE YOU ANDY.
I made this and it is absolutely delicious!
