MANGALORE, INDIA – Mangalore, on the West Coast of India in the state of Karnataka is a seafood paradise. Today we’re going on a an ultimate Indian seafood tour! Get ready for some of the best fish fry and seafood masala in India!

Dhakke Fish Market – It’s always good to know where you fresh seafood is coming from and so first thing we did was explore the central fish market. Mangalore is known for quite a large fishing industry.

Hotel Narayana (https://maps.app.goo.gl/PzGqPqwgYESppMHX8) – Going to the fish market, you’ll be ready to eat seafood and Hotel Narayana is famous for their fish fry and only fish fry. They have a variety of fish, especially kingfish and pomfret which they coat in their magical masala, and fry in coconut oil. It’s something truly incredible, especially with the crispy fried masala. Meals here cost about 500 INR ($6 USD)

Machali Seafood (https://maps.app.goo.gl/Wzo6xuT4GSKy71Nx7) – Next up on this Indian food tour, Machali Seafood is known to be one of the best and most popular seafood restaurants in Mangalore and they attract a huge crowd everyday. We tried about a dozen different incredible dishes including their famous shell less crab ghee roast, pomfret green masala, and crispy rava fish fry.

Giri Manja’s (https://maps.app.goo.gl/HAfs3xNBezsDhv4CA) – Another legendary seafood restaurant in Mangalore is Giri Manja’s. We tried their famous fish fry, golden prawns, and probably my favorite, the extra spicy Indian mackerel.

Mangalore is a friendly city in South India where you’ll find some mind blowing Indian seafood dishes. It’s an incredible place, highly recommended.

  1. Mangalore is known for its rich coastal cuisine, and after visiting some of its most iconic seafood spots—Girimanjas, Narayana, Machli, and Vanas—I can confidently say these restaurants offer an unforgettable experience. Whether you're a seasoned foodie or a casual diner, each place serves authentic, flavorful dishes that cater to all kinds of customers.

From the simplicity of Girimanjas' traditional coastal meals to the perfectly balanced flavors at Narayana, every bite leaves a lasting impression. Machli impresses with its blend of fresh seafood and local spices, while Vanas provides a vibrant atmosphere with dishes that perfectly capture the essence of Mangalorean cuisine.

If you’re in Mangalore and looking to indulge in seafood, these restaurants are absolute must-visits!

  2. @MarkWiens Dont fold the leaf this way . fold it from top to bottom as per the southern custom.

After you had your food always close the top leaf side over the lower leaf side which signifies that you have enjoyed your meal and you will visit again

If the bottom half is folded over the top, it is usually considered disrespectful as this is done only in solemn functions such as death.

  3. It is a OPEN CHALLENGE. 💪💪💪
    .
Tie a cloth around the eye of Mark and give him a glass of TAP WATER.
    .
He will sip and make facial expressions as if it is purest possible water in the universe, as clean and as holy as AMRIT.
    😂😂😂

  4. @7.47…… do not generalize.
    .
In Mangalore there are 50% vegetarians who will not eat fish and another 40% who dont like that much salt in food like how Narayan Hotel pours in.
    .
The fresh fish almost tastes like dried salty fish fried. That bad.
    .
You speak for the 10% useless fellows like yourself who will gobble anything, even a fallen cabbage leaf 🥬🥬🥬 on ths street.
    🥱🥱🥱

  5. @3.56…… I was there yesterday on August 25, 2024. This place is 1 minute walk from my grandfather business shop, run by my cousin now.
    .
Narayas fish fry masala is very salty. I could not eat straight at one stretch. Too much salt 😢😢😢
