  1. I researched this oil in boiling pasta water, and ultimately, you're better off NOT doing it. The benefits are almost non-existent and even if there was a benefit, its not worth wasting the oil for.
1- dont overfill the pot w/ water
2- oil preventing pasta from sticking while boiling is a myth
3- there is NO emulsion happening when adding oil to pasta water. (This is not a sauce)

  2. We used to add just a tiny amount of oil to pasta boils not to season the pasta or coat it or any of the other nonsense, but simply to make boil-overs less common. That's literally the only benefit, and you only need the tiniest amount of oil.

  3. Yep, that's what I was taught in school, don't use oil to cook your pasta and don't use water to keep your pasta moist.
Both are things I've heard people say and both are wrong, the oil does nothing while boiling and the water after cooking can make your pasta soggy.

  4. I cook my pasta, drain and shock my pasta… and once it’s drained, I put the pasta in a mixing bowl with oil and mix it… so the pasta doesn’t stick together as it sits and waits to be served. Learned this trick in an Italian kitchen.
