biryani is not indian, it is mughal. food that was made and served to the royal mughal moslem emperors that ruled over India for over 6 centuries.

I have a maybe dumb question but: do you remove the cardamom star anise and other spices before putting the rice with the beef or do they stay there? How do people avoid biting into the spices by accident?
