Unpopular opinion. Crabcakes suck.
I’ve tried a bunch of recipes and I’m convinced it’s all about the crab. Some recipes are better if you have lower quality crab, but I’m definitely going out to get some lump soon and try this.

Yes my favorite crab cake and I love the look of the broil I need to try that way
I ask for crabcakes for my birthday every year from my mom. We live in Maryland, too. She did the broil method for the first time ever this past year and it was the best crabcake I have ever had in my life. She has always fried them, and while they are amazing, this was a different level. The mouth feel was so different and it was so much more tender, juicy, flavorful. Omg.
I would EAT that crab cake.
Most other crabcakes are just flour laced croquettes with VERY little crab meat

Ironically as a Marylander, I don’t really like crab 😅. I’ll eat my grandmas crab cakes though because I grew up picking crabs with her at her bar.
