Remember Braised Beef in Chowking? Want to know how to cook braised beef ala chowking? I’ve been craving it for years. And we all know that it was not on their menu anymore. So I come up with this beef recipe and it is as good as the original. Definitely, cravings satisfied! Pinoy na pinoy ang lasa!

FULL RECIPE HERE—-
INGREDIENTS:
1 Kilo Beef (cut into cubes)
1 carrot (cut into cubes)
spring onions (for garnish)
4-5 pcs of star anise
6 cloves of garlic (minced)
1 medium size of onion (chopped)
Slurry (a mixture of half a cup of water and 1 tbsp of cornstarch)
Beef stock (2 1/2 cup)
3 tbsp of soy sauce
1 1/2 tablespoon of oyster sauce or mirin sauce
1 tsp of salt
whole black pepper
2 tablespoons of white sugar
2 tablespoons of cooking oil
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Cook beef until it is tender. In this recipe, I used a pressure cooker and cook it for 20 minutes. (Cooking time starts once you hear the hissing sound)
2. After 2 minutes, set aside the beef and the beef stock for later use
3. Heat the pan in medium heat and add cooking oil.
4. Saute garlic and onion
5. Add beef and stir well until the meat is golden brown.
6. Add whole black pepper
7. Add soy sauce and stir for a minute
8. Add beef stock and oyster sauce.
9. Add star anise, sugar, and carrots.
10. Stir well and cover the pan. Simmer for 5 minutes
11. Add salt and the slurry.
12. Continuously stir until the sauce thickens.
13. Sprinkle onion spring on top and serve!
