  1. Of all the methods I've tried, the best by a wide margin is the Grill Rescue brush. It's essentially just the 'wet towel' method but with a specially designed kevlar composite brush head. Highly recommended. If there's really caked on or carbonised gunk, I use a GrillFloss tool. Between them, they'll take the filthiest grill and make it spotless.

  2. It's really surprising how many people in grilling groups online advocate for not cleaning their grill or their grill grates. They use words like "seasoning" or "flavor" and the only word I can think of is "gross".

  3. A good tip which is a variant of what you’ve shown here is if I have enough charcoal left I will using spin around my grate and put the dirty stuff over the fire (since I usually only have coals on half the kettle) and let it burn off and carbonize the junk from all parts of the grate. I’ll close up the kettle and let it flame out if I want to save the charcoal. Once it’s cool, I’ll go over it with the coil brush, Citrusafe and my griddle scrub pad and it makes much easier work of getting the gunk off by allowing it to carbonize instead of just shutting down the kettle.
