CRISPY PORK TONKATSU 🤤 a golden, crunchy Japanese classic that brings restaurant-quality comfort food right to your table!
– 2 pork loins or chops (thin slices)
– Salt and pepper, to season
– ½ cup all-purpose flour
– 1 egg beaten
– 1 cup Japanese panko bread crumbs
– Vegetable oil, for frying
Tonkatsu Sauce
– 4 tbsp tomato sauce (ketchup)
– 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
– 1 tbsp light soy sauce
– 1/2 tsp garlic flakes or powder
Cabbage Salad
– 1/4 cabbage, shredded
– 1/4 cucumber, thinly sliced
– 1/4 red onion, thinly sliced
– 2 spring onion, sliced
– Japanese sesame dressing, to taste
Season the pork with salt and pepper on both sides then coat in flour, shaking off the excess. Dip into the beaten egg then firmly press into the panko breadcrumbs to stick. Fry in hot oil for about 4 – 5 minutes on each side until golden, crisp and cooked through. Drain on a paper towel.
To make the tonkatsu sauce, combine all ingredients in a small bowl. Taste and adjust seasoning as desired. To make the salad, toss all ingredients until well combined. Slice the pork cutlet into strips then serve with the cabbage salad and tonkatsu sauce.

Yum 😋
Do you season the pork or do you depend on the sauce and side dish?
