CRISPY PORK TONKATSU ๐คค a golden, crunchy Japanese classic that brings restaurant-quality comfort food right to your table!
– 2ย pork loins or chops (thin slices)
– Salt and pepper, to season
– ยฝย cupย all-purpose flour
– 1ย eggย beaten
– 1ย cupย Japanese panko bread crumbsย
– Vegetable oil, for frying
Tonkatsu Sauce
– 4ย tbspย tomato sauce (ketchup)
– 2 tbspย Worcestershire sauce
– 1ย tbspย light soy sauce
– 1/2ย tspย garlic flakes or powder
Cabbage Salad
– 1/4 cabbage, shredded
– 1/4 cucumber, thinly sliced
– 1/4 red onion, thinly sliced
– 2 spring onion, sliced
– Japanese sesame dressing, to taste
Season the pork with salt and pepper on both sides then coat in flour, shaking off the excess. Dip into the beaten egg then firmly press into the panko breadcrumbs to stick. Fry in hot oil for about 4 – 5 minutes on each side until golden, crisp and cooked through. Drain on a paper towel.
To make the tonkatsu sauce, combine all ingredients in a small bowl. Taste and adjust seasoning as desired. To make the salad, toss all ingredients until well combined. Slice the pork cutlet into strips then serve with the cabbage salad and tonkatsu sauce.
