Absolutely the Best! Thank you!
This is a great video, thanks. I’m only just beginning to start pickling, and have never tried the hot water canning method, but will give it a go in a couple of months when our veggies are ready. Great videos ATK.
I've made B&B pickles for decades but not at that low temp. How long do you process the pickles at 180-185 degrees?
i want to try to make Bread-and-Butter bean sprouts
Thank you. Sounds yummy 😋
I had a great time making 4 pints of pickles from the cukes in my garden. Thanks for posting such a great video. Easy to follow, take notes, and replay important parts. ??🤔I have leftover "Brine", can I save and use later or should I discard🤔??
I understand a high tannin leaf like grape leaf helps keep pickles crisp. I’ve only made fermented dill pickles, but the grape leaf seems to keep mine crisp.
The temperatures….. I’m in the UK. Would these be Fahrenheit or Centigrade? Tnx
The USDA lies
Great video. What is the shelf life duration for these canned pickles prior to cracking the seal? A year or two? Thanks.
Please clarify the processing time. I have always and forever brought the water to a boil, lowered to simmer and processed forthe alloted time. You are saying the temp should be BELOW boiling?
And starring the middle aged, overweight, man hater.
What is the yield of pints for this recipe?
Thanks for this recipe. I love bread and butter pickles 😋
Wish I could get the recipe without joining this cooking magazine. Costs are a problem now.
After salting the veg, whiz them for a minute in your salad spinner to dry them. You should show everyone how to make Fire and Ice pickles. My fav from my friend, Paula G.
Wonderful recipe BUT you neglected to tell us HOW DID THESE PICKLES GET THE NAME "BREAD and BUTTER" PICKLES. WHERE'S THE RECIPE????
Hello, my name is John. I'm 22 years old. I used to work in a pickle factory. I was 14 years old. I went to work. I was a beginner, but I love to work. We have a huge factory that sells three tons and pickles of vegetables, and the second type is fruit. Every taste is different. I have a lot of experience in pickles for 8 years. I know all about pickles, but I'm looking for a factory in Europe. I want to work with them. If someone is thinking of opening a business, I will help them. If you like it send me a message
Bridget has as much personality as a piece of toast
😇😋♾️❤💜
I mean 2 lbs
How many cups are 3 lbs
Excellent! I can use my Anova Sous Vide set to 185°, safer than boiling and don't need a special rack!
Does America's test kitchen make pickled chow chow? I would love the recipe
Looks great…I'm going to try these…thanks for the science-based recipe !
Can I double this pickle recipe??
🐞 I don’t like bell peppers. Could I use julienned carrots instead? Thanks. 🐞
I've made those pickles!!! I was so proud! Tried dill but that's toooooo much work for me! ❤️❤️👍
A tip from my grandma about keeping pickles crispy is tannins from tea (like a regular black tea bag) or bay leaves; or both.
They're called bread and butter pickles because I'm the bread and I want Dan's butter. He is so fucking fine. Show me your pickle sometime
You shits couldn't even give the recipe before I sign up. I bought your last two books. Those are my last.
He drained the moist from cucumber but added water in the brine.
Went to copy the recipe only to be FORCED to sign up to some website I DO NOT NEED TO BE SIGNED UP FOR…. just to read the damn list of ingredients? HELL NO! GET RID OF THAT. No shortage of FREE NO NAG RECIPES out there. I will find it elsewhere. BTW… made pickles before, RINSING OFF THE SALT IS A GOOD IDEA.
Personally wasn’t a fan of this recipe. Kinda bitter imo.
get the recipe = pay wall
We call these Grammie pickles, because our Grammie and my mom, the current Grammie, made/make the best, not too sweet, thin sliced bread and butter/onion pickles. My dad and I love them on a really good natural casing frank, fried or grilled, with mustard and a toasted bun.
Looks great.Going to make these
Terrible cooks
I was looking for a bread and butter pickle recipe that used less sugar than the one I have, so I decided to try this one. I won't know about the taste because at this moment they are processing in the hot water bath!
I can say that I had an excess of brine, more than double what I actually needed! I even weighed my cucumbers before and after slicing them! I'll definitely save the excess brine hoping that we make more pickling cucumbers!
Thanks! If your jars are fully covered laying down, is it safe? My pot isn't deep enough for standing.
