Yes, it tenderizes like the video showed. But I will never use this method again. Why? Because of the CONSISTENCY of the beef after it's cooked. I stir-fried strips of beef and followed these directions. The result was almost like a ''squeaky'' feeling as I bit into the steak. Really, this was a turnoff for me. It did not feel like regular steak in my mouth. This weird consistency may not bother some people, but it did me, unfortunately
Beef is so pricey, but now it’s possible to cook with the less expensive cuts.

Hello. Does rinsing beef after puting baking soda stops the process of tenderizing beef?
My beef becomes mushy after a day or two maybe because I dont wash the meat. I am working at a restau and we need to prepare in advance for Beef Bbq. But if we use baking soda the bbq becomes mushy.
Bicarb soda dissolves way quicker if it is done in warm water.
I do this when a large steak is needed. I buy blade steak. At $28 a kilo, it is excellent value for money.
