Easy Butter Cookies Recipe

Good old fashioned butter cookies are hard to beat! These holiday staples are delicious any time of the year and the best part is the dough can be made months ahead and baked of for an amazing on demand treat! I love the simple flavors and perfect crumb of the cookie. They’re light and not too sweet so I can eat them en mass and still have a skip in my step. You Can also freeze the dough for baking on demand cookies later. These slice and bake cookies are too good to miss!

  1. I totally f——ed up the recipe by using only 1 stick of butter and sliced them 3/4” thick. 😩 I had to bake them twice as long and guess what? THEY WERE STILL DELICIOUS! I can hardly wait to make them again. I have been looking for a recipe like this for ages.😊

  2. That's how my mom taught me back in the 60s.. To measure flour. To aerate it in the container and then sprinkle it in, not packing it.. Like you showed us and then leveling it off; Aas well as leveling off teasoon measurements.✨️ I love baking..and guving as gifts… and cannot wait to make these!.. As well as so many others that you have shared. Thank you for your generous, beautiful spirit.. for teaching us so much.. and aking such delicious creations.😊🫶🏽✨️🍪

  3. I’m on the hunt to find the perfect butter cookie. My girlfriend’s client bakes the best butter cookie. They’re super light with a great crumble and they melt in your mouth. She won’t share her recipe but man oh man I want it. I’ll definitely try these.

  4. At the Peppermill in LAs Vegas they have a multicolored coarse sugar on every table for coffee. My husband calls it Disco sugar. I rolled this cookie dough in the Disco Sugar (so colorful and festive) and baked them off. I also used your suggestion to turn off the oven and leave the door open a crack for a crispier cookie. I did that for 5 minutes. What I ended up with was a sweetie, lighter shortbread like cookie for the holidays. Delicious. Thank you so much.

  5. I've always been one of the best cooks/bakers in the family. But last year I found Preppy Kitchen and now I'm so confident, I think I'm John in my kitchen. Explaining to everyone… "no, it's very important to measure your flour!" I have never tried a recipe that isn't a complete SMASH HIT. He's actually one of the only people I've bought a cookbook. Not that I need it. Between his YouTube and website but because I want to support him.

  6. I butter cookies così sono un classico che non stanca mai! Semplici, eleganti e perfetti in qualsiasi momento dell’anno. La tua versione sembra scioglievole al punto giusto… da mangiarne uno dopo l’altro! 💛🍪✨

  7. I tried to make it; however, my dough was wet even though I chilled it for more than an hour. I even put it into the freezer for a while before cutting. However, it also spread a bit more. May I know what I have missed?
