Good tips Lisa! Loved the episode!
Wow, an iPod in a dock in the background. I haven’t seen one of them for a long time. 😉
I use nylon bristled brushes to clean any graters and zesters. Oxo has a set of small brushes with one brush having a silicone tip at the opposite end for extra duty. Also Camelbak makes a great set for cleaning inside bottles, canteens and the like. One is large and one is really small for getting into mouth pieces and holes.
Whenever I run the dishwasher at night, I put my sponge and drain traps in with the dishes and they basically get boiled to sterilize.
The Method grapefruit is amazing!
Love your tips for using cleaning products. Hard to find the O'Cedar long-handled brush to clean pans as well as their scrubbie sponges. Where can I look for them. Thank You. A new subscriber.
Another way to sanitize the dish sponge: if you have a sink that you are willing to clean with a cleanser like Comet, clean the sink after use with the cleanser, using both sides of the dish sponge. Squeeze the cleanser mixed with a little water through the sponge. And rise it out really well. You can let the sponge sit a while with the cleanser in it if you choose to instead of rinsing immediately.
I like to put cleaned pans – like cast iron or roasting pans in a warm oven to dry them completely
I generally use a blue scrubbing sponge for my cast iron and a drop of dish liquid. Believe me, cast iron pans can take a scrubbing without losing the seasoning. After a good scrub, I heat it on a burner to dry it out, put a tablespoon of veg oil in the bottom, and heat that until it just shimmers, grab a mitt and swirl to coat, put it on the back of the stove until it cools, wipe the oil up and around the sides with a paper towel and she's all good. It's cooked meals for 3 generations now.
Lisa you are a Queen 👸❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏🌻🌻🌻
Nice White Ipod🤣
I still have and use mine daily. It's black and in mint condition.
Great
A debate my roommates and I have been having: when washing dishes, do you put a drop of soap in the plate/bowl, or put soap on the sponge?
Every month I put the sink stoppers, and garbage disposal rubber shield in the dishwasher top rack to sanitize.
Gear Head = HEROES
My mother would have a heart attack if she knew how seldom I wash my cast iron. I will wash them if needed, but I’m lazy and love that most of the time I can just wipe them out with a paper towel. I have Mom’s and even though it was washed after every use, it has a really good seasoning on it. It was the only one she had in over 50 years of marriage. Me, I have several and cook as much as I can in cast iron.
Scrunge rules!!!!!
4:56 “I won’t show up and say ‘I know you used soap!’”
I can’t think of anything more that would cause me to run out, get a cast-iron pan, season it and then use soap on it. Having Lisa show up at my doorstep, even to soap scold me, would be an utter delight!
I just steam my cast iron by deglazing with water and use a wood spoon to break loose stuck bits. I poor off the water and sometimes scrub with kosher salt.
Bar Keeper's Friend and Bon Ami are considered the least abrasive cleaning powers on the market. I use BKF all over the house – toilets, tubs, etc. and find it does a great job, actually better than the more abrasive cleaners.
A NYC restaurant owner said it was alright to wash cast iron pans with soap. He said the health inspectors would have a fit if he didn't wash his pans! 😉
When you wash your wooden cutting boards, be sure to wash both sides, then stand them on edge to dry. Wetting only one side can cause the board to warp.
Thank you 😊
If anyone was going to test the "soap will destroy cast iron" myth you think it would be ATK. It definitely does not
That vintage IPod in the upper right corner of the screen should be in a museum 🙂
Is there a good dish rack for half sheet pans and cutting boards?
I love the O-cedar sponges! Do you microwave these to sterilize?
Love this channel, but lost count the number of times she said "um". It was kind of distracting.
How do you clean the coffee stain from the cone shaped plastic basket that hold the Melita type coffee filters?
LOVE Lisa ✔
Method Grapefruit AP spray is the BOMB (it's not the most economical choice but, it's so pleasant). And yes it does dissipate quickly. Natural citrus type scents irritate less people I personally think. I cleaned homes and businesses for a living for close to a decade so that's just my experience.
Not much useful info here. A method (that actually works) to remove baked-on oil from stovetop would have been useful.
Thank you Lisa for sharing useful information. Good luck to Lisa 😘😘
Any advice on cleaning a glass stove top?
So we got a good half
Lisa seems like she would be such a nice person to get to know!
what about a dash of cloudy ammonia with dishwashing detergent? been using it. sink waste plastic grate incidentally came clean back to white. couldnt get it white before, no matter what scrubbing.
I use the liquid bar keepers friend cleaner for my instant pot pot. I wash it first with regular dish soap, then repeat with bar keepers then I wash again with dish soap. My pot looks sparkling NEW.
Wood cutting boards do well to be put into sunshine which kills a lot of germs.
