As cooks, we appreciate the merits of a small second oven, which is handy for preparing single portions and side dishes, melting cheese on sandwiches, and keeping the kitchen cool in hot weather. A toaster oven takes half the time of a full-size oven to preheat, and it’s more energy-efficient for small tasks. Toasting is still important, though: If these ovens can’t toast a simple slice of bread, what are the chances that they can handle cookies, chicken, or pizza?
We tested 11 toaster ovens to find the best one:

I was a bit reluctant to buy an "off brand" toaster, but the reviews on this one led me to take a chance.I was very pleased! https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxE7HOOpW0eh4vbVGAB_r_cURwoxZxpZPA The toast comes out evenly browned and I was surprised that the sides of the toaster do NOT get hot to the touch which is a great safety feature.I like the additional buttons for frozen foods, the emergency eject button, and the warming rack for rolls and other items. All in all, it was a good purchase and at the right price. Sure you can get fancier toasters, but for a premium price. This fulfills the basic duties of a toaster at a reasonable price.
did the Breville get hot when in use on the door, top, sides and bottom?
Huge machines that can't fit in lots of kitchens. The Japanese know how to make small but effective machines.
Brevilla changes name for SAGE and is about £250 (UK, August 2021). I used this one for baking the bread and it was full success. Well, for me, it is good recommendation.
I am not sure why I am watching this because I adore my air fryer for doing everything a toaster oven can do. I made a bagel the other night that looked like it came out of a photograph. 🙂
Who sells that Breville for $245 or $250?
Thank you for this review. I have had my second Farberware Turbo Convection Oven for the past 25 years and hope it will continue to be a great oven. This is the only oven I use. I don't think they make this any longer.
So what are the top 4?
Great information. BUT, what about long term use and reliability? My cheap B&D convection finally pooped out after 3 years. it was only $38. worked great. If I am spending $100 ., it pays to know longterm use. Thanks.
I have a top end Breville. I never use it for toast however. That's like using a sledgehammer to drive in a picture frame nail. However I use it for baking all the time and it's awesome. Heats quickly and doesn't heat the kitchen. Air frys, bakes, broil, … it was a great purchase.
This was nothing. Here is the best here is the worst. Everything else is crap!
What about the Sunbeam!
How about a 2020 update?
i have an Oster w/ convection $60 on amazon, works great. 1st one lasted 15 yrs, lots of pizza & fries
Yeah Breville!!!

Why not test the Panasonic infrared oven?

Toyota Corolla note for a toaster oven
I absolutely love this series. I’m in the middle of a research project and their methodology and testing is fantastic and honestly an inspiration.
Wish you would do a review of the new electric grills flooding the market.
What was that kid doing in the background??? Looks like he was stumped after pouring OJ and moving stuff around before walking off for a time-out. 😅😂🤣
I love my Breville smart oven air toaster oven! I love my kitchen toy.
Please, update this review. Maybe the Breville is still the winner.
2007 to 2011 saw few updates. 2011 to 2019 saw few updates as well IMO. I've seen that breville toaster oven on target shelves for years and price hasn't changed much. Oh yeah, honing rods comments sent me here.
pls update
I like toast.
Only 2 heating elements on the bottom how is it going to cook all the way across a pizza without torching the edges ???🤔
I love my Breville. It is easy to use and does the job right every time. Well worth the $349.00
Looking for a new slow cooker and thinking of buying one at oener.mba/cynlc do you recommend any?
Would you please help test some steam oven like CSO-300N
Toast is life. If you ain't about it. Get out of here.
I am not sure about their premise that if it toasts well, it's good to go for everything else. I won't find out personally because i use a conventional toaster to toast bread (faster; more uniform; less power waste), and a new (2018) toaster over for nearly everything else. It works very well.
America's test kitchen please update this video and test the newer toaster ovens out, it is now over 7 years old and there are a lot of toaster ovens on the market. For a lot of people, especially people on the go, the toaster oven is actually the most important and most used piece of equipment in our kitchen and it can be surprisingly difficult to find a quality toaster oven. A new video like this on toaster ovens may also engage a younger less adamant cooking viewer and possibly increase your viewer base, thank you. Love the videos, especially equipment review!
Hi, can you please do this test again and can you review the Balmuda? thanks.
Very good un biased video.Im curious how the Wolf Elite Gourmet compares.
How long will a unit last? in years.
I wish they'd tell us what exactly they didn't like about at least some of the models they tested. Just giving us the 'winner' is okay and all, and I value their opinion, but I'd like to know why they didn't chose each one, on a one on one basis.
Now that I saw your video, I can let out a sigh of relief, knowing that the review on Healthy Kitchen 101 was genuinely and impartially written. Wish that you can do the 2019 version with more products. Keep up the good work
Be very careful about what model you buy. I bought the Breville BOV845BSS which is the newer version of the BOV800XL, the "favorite toaster oven". What a disappointment! No setting I used could get the toast to brown on BOTH sides — ONLY ONE SIDE TOASTED AT ALL.
I've returned it and I'm going to try the BOV800XL next. Fingers crossed ATK is right and it really is the best.
Still in love with my Breville in 2019!
I have had my Brevelle Smart Oven for a few years and at first it was great. Evenly cooked and toasted. After a few months, that was no longer the case. I had to nurse toast along by repeatedly turning the bread over during toasting otherwise it burned on one side and barely toasted on the other. I'm not the only one too. Take a look at Amazon reviews. What a waste of money. It was a really expensive toaster oven. Too bad ATK didn't do a longer term testing of the two winners. The Breville would have likely failed.
I have the breville smart oven. After three years the thermal fuse went. I researched online and saw so many breville’s had the same issue. I decided to try the new calphalon quartz convection toaster oven that also dehydrated as well. It lists for $299; kohl’s had it for $209 and with $63 in coupons I got it for $153 total. I’m anxious to see how it performs🤗🙏🏼🎄
I purchased this very oven with convection it is not the most expensive one there is a model with more features . I love it for everything especially warming food instead of microwave rubbery food, it heats quickly and is accurate. In the heat of the summer it is a blessing. I bought it for $189 on sale at BB& Beyond with a 20% of coupon. It's built sturdy and is easy to clean. I had a cheap Black& Decker for years and it finally died. I can cook anything in this that I can in my oven. I am so pleased this is still the one too buy‼️😎
I had the Breville three tears ago ,and it’s amazing ,I do all kind of Pastry’s and cooking .excellent
