What are the vitamin values of fresh water fish vs ocean fish? Some say tilapia has virtually no vitamin values.
Umm rainbow and brook trout are 2 different trouts.
Cancer doctor said to stay away from farm raised fish!
That's a hard pass from me on the talapia.
Catfish is variable. When I'm catching my own in open, clean waters it's never an issue. Purchasing from the market I have occasionally experienced some questionable flavor issues. Last time I had farm raised catfish at a restaurant, probably 20 years ago, I detected a very odd flavor. Everyone had been raving about this place but I couldn't quite put my finger on the weird flavor I was picking up. THEN…next time I fed my dog his dry kibble, it hit me. The fish tasted like the smell of dry dog food, because that's basically what farm raised are fed.🤮
It's funny how these comments always end up naming every other available possibility, some of which are only regionally available or have some sort of specific quality that the majority of people are just not going to like.
Also, there's ALWAYS the tilapia haters, who are as ridiculous as steak snobs. We aren't talking "all time best" here. Tilapia is cheap, widely available, dependable, versatile, uncomplicated to cook, and even the picky kids will typically eat it. I'm happy eating tilapia tacos weekly, all danged Summer.
Real flounder beats tilapia any day of the week…
Thanks Jack! As usual I learned so much.
Tilapia harbors mercury
Tilapia is garbage fish. I can't believe walleye didn't make the list
I love 3 of the 4 fish except the salmon.
Any way to tell which Salmon have been dyed to enhance their colour?
I love this channel. I worked in a restaurant for years. Your commitment to this inspired me to be pay more attention to owning a restaurant!!!
Retirement took a toll on my finance, but my involvement in digital marketing really changed the game for me, earning $22K
weekly has been really helpful as I have been able to clear my mortgage 7 months ago and I own a restaurant.
One thing to watch is the country of source for the fish and determine if you trust their environment.
No Walleye??????????
What's the matter with you guys!
My Publix store in Georgia even carries it
You failed to mention one important fact. Most of tbe time when you think you are ordering expensive ocean caught seafood you are in fact getting tilapia or asian carp. This has been confirmed by DNA testing. Its what happens when 8 billion people feed off an over exploited ocean.
Perch, bluegill, crappie etc. The Best. Walleye, too.
Don't you be telling folks about catfish! The price will skyrocket. 😂
Most tilapia is farmed in China. I won't eat it.
Heh, not making many Ohio fans with this video.
I love catfish and cod the best 🤩😁❤❤❤❤.
Thanks!
Splake! Yummy!!!!
Sorry but I'm not a fan of Tilapia. Catfish is surprisingly good though.
What about invasive carp?
Crappie is the best.
You couldn’t pay me to eat tilapia. Get real. Wild caught walleye is available seasonally at our Costco and it’s best freshwater fish I’ve ever had.
freshwater don't taste
Trust me, trout is not a good fish to eat. Just because it's catchable does mean it's delightful or edible.
Tilapia is like tyson chicken they eat their own poo.
As for Tyson, next package you get, notice the chicken lot smell. Smells like their litter.
this guy lost all credibility when he said farmed Catfish and Tilapia… what taste bud is this… must be drowned in sauce or fried to crisp for them to be "good"
I will never eat Tilapia as most on the market is imported from overseas farms that have abhorrent practices and zero regulation or oversight.
Is halibut freshwater fish?
I dont love that my comment regarding pf os and pf as in fis was cen sored.
love that haddock won
Very interesting hearing how highly tilapia rated on a blind taste test. I feel like there's a lot of bias against it, probably mostly because it's cheap / easy to grow.
When in St. Louis, I ate Mississippi mud catfish at a fancy restaurant. It tasted just like mud and I couldn’t eat it. I live on a freshwater lake in Oklahoma that has some pretty tasty catfish.
OK, I agree with the catfish and maybe the trout, but leaving out the top two of walleye and crappie is unacceptable. Punkin Seeds too.
Thanks Jack for the information, I love your segments always very informative.
Tilapia is fish for people who don't really like fish. It is the chicken breast of fish.
I question the taste buds of their taste test panel.
This segment makes me really question the reliability of recommendations from ATK. There are so many mistakes and wrong data I've lost confidence in Jack's opinions.
Walleye!
