It’s said that fry bread was invented in the 1860s by the Navajo when the were forced to relocate by the United States government and given rations of flour, sugar, salt and lard. I had my first frybread taco when I lived in Montana, and today I’m recreating it so I can have it in Rhode Island, too. New videos every Thursday and Saturday!

Can the oil be reused?
Hard times? Thats a celebratory meal
As a half native who is not Navajo, we have a very similar recipe, which I make smaller but thicker, and I enjoy mixing raisins into the dough when Iβm having a tough day.
Yummy

They sell different varieties of fry bread at my state fair (New England). They sell tacos like this there too.
Never mentioned that the room should be room temperature or warmer . As well as you want to cover it with a "warm towel" then after it has risen then you roll it out 1 inch thick ona lightly "pre-floured" table. pan fry in 2 to 3 inches of oil on medium high hetat til they float and are golden brown, then flip
Iβm a white girl who was raised on the Nez Perce reservation, Indian fry bread is one of my favorite meals. Two thumbs up! Heat the butter and honey together and dip the bread in it.
Love you. Love you. Love you. The very BEST video. Thankx.
I'm part Mi'kmaq an east coast tribe, our bread isn't so similar it's called lusknikn. But growing up in Utah around many Navajo and other indians and polynesians I ate a ton a fry bread and navajo tacos. Almost every LDS ward dinner/luau we would have navajo tacos along with whatever else was made usually holiday themed. great video.
I am white Emmy did I no Iβm white and when no oneβs looking I go to the salon and Iβm still white But also I like drugs
I like how you kept it real by keeping the part where your fry bread taco fell apart. That kind of thing happens to me a lot so I appreciate that you didn't do a take 2 on that.
I just seen your video….. we actually use forks and knives.
Fry bread really comes from Hungarian Langos. As Wheat was not domesticated in the Americas.
I know that at this point fry bread is a cultural food… but GMO flour + sugar + salt + deep frying = very unhealthy. Once in a while is fine, but eat too many for too long and one will generally become a sick person at an early age.
I learned a lot, this was great <3
Im Argentinean and it looks like our "torta frita" which is fried cake, we usually have it with sugar on top
