Took delivery of mine yesterday. At $799 how can you go wrong? This thing is solid! I used it to grill Salmon the first time and burgers the second. Grilling was better than expected. I set it at 450 and it did very well. Can't wait to smoke some ribs and pork butt!
I will definitely be picking one up. Ive been wanting to get a pellet grill for the past few months and have been torn on what to get. I read reviews from all of the cheaper brands and everyone says the same thing about each brand. Seems there are quite a few lemons for each brand for anything $700 and under. Grilla grills now has this grill on sale for $799 and its almost a no brainer to pick this one up.
Out of curiosity, was this a paid review? I bought a silverbac last November, and I have regretted it from day one! Every time I start it up, regardless of what temp I set it to, it will spike up to 290-300 on start up (even when set as low as it will go on 180. It will stay there for over an hour, then GRADUALLY start cooling down but never gets down to set temp. The only way I can get it to hold 225 is to set it to 215 AND turn a fan blowing on the exterior. I spent multiple hours working with Grilla tech support, trying multiple things such as adjusting auger rate, leaving the door open first 10 minutes of startup, and so on. They have sent me a new controller and a new temp probe. Issue is still not resolved and they will not refund my $.
Also “great smoky flavor”? I get no smoke flavor at all unless I use a smoke tube.
Just bought mine for $539 for their spring sale
There is a great sale on the Silverback 3/19/25. I have been leaning towards the Searwood though.
About to purchase one, thanks for the informative video!! This will be my first pellet grill.
Great video!
Great review I just purchased one!!!
Pellet grill? Is it also a smoker?
I recently bought a Zgrill 700E XL they’re very similar
Does it get hot enough to use a griddle? If so which griddle should I get?
Do you think the silverback can take the place of a gas grill and smoker?
Did he say that the smokers caulked?
Where
Excellent review, I made the purchase, liked, and subscribed…Keep up the great work sirrrrrrr😎👍
it seems like this is my best bet for my first pellet smoker, i have a propane grill so im not super worried about the grill aspect mainly smoking. only thing is the single probe, do most people tend to use 2 or more probes? i assume it would be nice if im smoking different meats at once, so is that a show stopper? ill mainly be butts, ribs, and brisket, but only one at a time.
I assume you can smoke with no heat like for cheese, jerky, etc?
Great info! Besides the pellet release door, is there anything else you would like to see them change/upgrade? Thank you
Bought the non-wifi version and I couldn’t be any less happy. I get barely any smoke on either setting and Im on my 3rd motherboard. Get a different smoker, folks
We use aluminum foil under grill to provide easy clean up.
Smoked a couple London Broils and in under 1 hour at 275 we had the most tender juicy and smoked with smoke ring. It actually looked and tasted like brisket. I call it a poor man’s brisket. Hardly ever saw any smoke during cook so this is the real deal. I only wish they would provide a more heavy duty grill cover for the Silverback.
Several months ago I stumbled upon your Best Pellet Grills under $1199 video. I knew the AT Silverbac was the pellet grill I was going to get when the time came. Well, that time came tonight. I'm happy to see this video now and see that the Grilla Grills Silverbac is still turning heads. I feel very confident in my choice of pellet grills. Thanks for the video(s)! Keep up the awesome work. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some pellet smoking to plan for.
This grill has so many things I like BUT the lack of an ash dump system is really killing it for me. Seems like such a simple and archaic thing that should be in all grills.
I like the wheels the most about this bbq
Would you consider reviewing the ‘ThermaQ 2’ bbq thermometer? You do the best reviews.
I've been using a Silverback (normal not off-road) for about 2 years now & agree with you on many of your points. The deal breaker for me is the opening height. The 9" is just way to small if you smoke decent sized prime ribs & turkeys. This is the main reason I'm looking elsewhere for my next pellet grill. My other issue is the heat shield on mine has become warped causing cleaning to be a royal pain. I've got 100s of great cooks with this grill so I have no regrets getting it.
After looking at the app ratings for the Grilla Grills Alpha Connect, I can’t get myself to buy a Grilla. The Apple Store Grilla app only shows 59 ratings and only has a 2.8 out of 5 stars. Lots of complaints. On the contrary, Traeger, Rec Teq and Camp Chef have thousands of reviews and are well above 4.5 out of 5.
Hello David 🙂
i started following you recently thank you for all the hard work you put into your videos
its been over a year that i want to get a electric Pellet smoker but there always seems to be problems with every model out there, i just want to be able to start smoking my own brisket thats what im wishing for … i get discouraged with all the technical issues people complain about that i end up giving up, i just want to find that "almost perfect grill" but also not pay a crazy amount so ideallyyy under 1300 USD
Any suggestions ?
Just ordered my SB AT a couple days ago. Now we just hafta wait …. thanks for a great review!!
I am really enjoying your channel… well done!
Great review! When I was deciding it was between this and the RecTeq RT-700. I decided to go with the RecTeq but think I would have been very happy with the Grilla Grill.
Great review. I just purchased a Silverback a few months back after saving and researching different grills for over 6 months. The various stainless components of the grill and the double walled insulation are really what sold me. I also purchased several accessories such as the front shelf and sauce caddy both were stainless too and the AT cart which was a little pricey but once you see the quality it is understandable. I have done almost 15 cooks on it and it has been great. Because of the build quality would definitely recommended spending a little extra for this pellet grill. Hard to beat at this price point.
Great Review! Would love to win the Silverbac!
Good review 👍
I've owned the Chimp for more than 1 year now and really like it. I'll make a few additional comments:
1) Remote Start: I keep it in the garage (not powered) and so when I go get it ready, I'll roll it out, plug it in (this will turn on the wifi and get itself online) and when I want to turn it on, I'll do it via the app.
2) The lower-half of the barrel is double-walled. This is awesome. I'm in West Michigan, a few miles from Grilla Grills HQ and it really shows that this is designed to be used in the harsh weather (15f and windy, and this does a really good job), no jacket required for this fella. It does burn more pellets, but you'll expect that.
My 71 year old mom visited me last summer and was so impressed by it, she ended up buying one and uses it regularly for herself.
Nice job! Y’all stay warm! Looks like this is gonna be a rough one!
What a great review. As far as dependability, I've had my SB for about 5 years with no issues whatsoever.
