I had a teacher who brought cheese crickets to a field trip once. I have a bit of a bug phobia, so I was very firm about not trying them at first. My good friend at the time somehow convinced me to eat one, and they were delicious! Before I could get another, the whole class had already finished the bag.
Growing up in Northern MinneSNOWta I've been eating wild rice all my life and that is without a doubt the nastiest caricature of wild rice I've ever seen. An ego piece done for those who know nothing about wild rice.
Sean Sherman, the Chef for Owamni restaurant in Minnesota. Owamni was voted best new restaurant in the US. Sean Sherman has won dozens of awards, including James Beard (super prestigious), along with writing an award winning cookbook that promotes traditional Lakota Sioux (Native American tribe) dishes. Its near impossible to get a table at this popular restaurant. It books up weeks, sometimes months, out.
TLDR people see crickets and throw a big toddler-style fit, not realizing what a big deal this Chef and his restaurant are.
Crickets? That's a hard no. Lol
Looks so interesting!! Definitely would give it a taste!
I thought hemlock is poisonous…?
No crickets for me, please! ๐
Dude put the whole forest in there
Eating bugs is a tough sell in the US ๐ Weโre not that desperate yet!
Rice pilaf with bugs…. ๐

So we have all these ingredients that the average home cook can not get!!
Why do they keep pushing bugs as a food source? These people are depraved.
I would be a bad rich person. Can I have just a burger and fries please.
Would it not be better toasting the rice for a minute or so, being like pilaf rice?
It all sounded so good until he said maple syrup.
Seems wonderful except the crickets…. not for me ๐

Um NO on bugs and hemlock…
I've never had all those foods together. Looks like a really unique and tasty dish
Hold the insects please, I don't want to see bugs when I go out for dinner.
Eeww.. wtf atk?
I will not eat the bugs

One doesn't usually turn to hemlock as a source of flavor. Which part of the plant killed Socrates again?
